Bitter gun-grabbing Dem takes shot at Tucker during hearing: He ‘attacked me on his stupid show’

Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-NY) pathetically attempted to troll Fox News host Tucker Carlson during a committee hearing on gun control Wednesday, making it obvious he’s still suffering from a verbal beat down by the conservative.

Because Carlson dared to take aim at Jones for calling for more gun-grabbing legislation on his show, Jones doubled down on his quest to seize guns and end the filibuster.

“The last time I called for the Senate to abolish the filibuster to pass an assault weapons ban, the right-wing media went berserk,” Jones said in front of the committee, attempting to make himself more relevant than he is. “Tucker Carlson attacked me on his stupid show, so obviously I’m going to do it again for the people.”

He proceeded to once again call for the Senate to end the filibuster during a House Judiciary Committee meeting so that unconstitutional gun control legislation could be passed. Sixty votes are required to advance the legislation.

It is possible that Democrats could abolish the filibuster with a simple majority vote. Standing in their way, however, are Democrat Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) who have said they will not support doing so.

When Jones initially called to end the filibuster in June, Carlson slammed him for it, and rightfully so.

“You will not stop us from advancing the Protecting our Kids Act today. You will not stop us from passing it in the House next week and you will not stop us there. If the filibuster obstructs us, we will abolish it. If the Supreme Court objects, we will expand it, and we will not rest until we have taken weapons of war out of circulation in our communities. Each and every day, we will do whatever it takes to end gun violence, whatever it takes,” Jones proclaimed.

“‘In our communities.’ Really? What’s the murder rate in your community, pal, and what exactly have you done to make it better? Nothing,” Carlson fired back on his show.

“Mondaire Jones wants power. They all do and to that end, he wants to end the filibuster, destroy the entire judiciary to ‘end gun violence.’ A move like that raises a lot of questions. For example, does Mondaire Jones have any idea what he’s talking about? Fox’s Hillary Vaughn caught up with him today. She wanted to know what weapons of war he intends to ban. This is a revealing exchange. Watch this. Here’s what he said,” Carlson noted and then played the exchange between Jones and Vaughn.

“You mentioned you want weapons of war out of circulation. What is a weapon of war to you?” Vaughn asked Jones.

“Assault weapons, assault weapons,” he replied.

“So, is that like semiautomatic handguns and rifles?” she prompted him.

“Semiautomatic weapons would qualify as assault weapons and these are things that should be banned,” Jones responded.

“Almost, take almost every gun out of people’s hands. I mean…” Vaughn began.

“That’s not true. I mean, handguns, for example, would not qualify under what I just described. I got, I’m sorry. I got to go,” Jones ended off by making it clear he knows absolutely nothing about guns.

“So, yes, Mondaire Jones, just explained, yeah, all semiautomatic weapons, which Hillary Vaughn says, yeah, handguns? Yeah, handguns. So, you want to take everyone’s handguns away? No, handguns wouldn’t qualify as assault weapons, even though he just defined assault weapons as any ‘semiautomatic weapon,'” Carlson stated, pointing out the contradictions in Jones’ revealing statements.

“So clearly, Mondaire Jones knows what Hillary Vaughn was trying to tell him, that most firearms in this country, including most handguns, are, ‘semiautomatic weapons,’ including 22 calibers that aren’t causing a ton of school shootings, but when Hillary Vaughn points this out, Mondaire Jones runs away and probably not back to his district to lower the murder rate. He just didn’t want to get into details,” the Fox News host concluded.

Jones is still licking his wounds and holding a grudge over Carlson nailing him for his duplicitous stance on gun-control.

Thankfully, even with the House passing the gun-control legislation, they are all but certain to fail in the Senate.
