Illegal immigration partly to blame for Uvalde school shooting, report finds

According to an explosive report, there were multiple systemic failures that allowed the Uvalde school massacre to take place, including “relaxed vigilance” over illegal immigration.

The border crisis reportedly helped foster lax security at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas where 19 children and two teachers were slaughtered by a deranged shooter.

Evidently, vehicles suspected of human smuggling are being observed by law enforcement on an escalating basis. When authorities attempt to pull over a suspicious vehicle, the driver often refuses to stop and takes off. That is a scenario that many times ends in a crash and the driver and passengers abandoning, or “bailing out,” of the car.

These “bailouts” trigger security alerts at schools in the area including Robb Elementary School. Since the alerts are not a danger to the school or students, they are usually ignored, according to the report.

One of the things “contributing to relaxed vigilance [at Robb Elementary] was the frequency of security alerts and campus lockdowns resulting from a recent rise of ‘bailouts,'” the report asserts.

“The frequency of these ‘bailout’-related alarms — around 50 of them between February and May of 2022 — contributed to a diminished sense of vigilance about responding to security alerts,” the investigation noted, alluding to desensitization over the issue.

Uvalde is approximately 50 miles east of Mexico and sits at the intersection of major highways from the border cities of Del Rio and Eagle Pass.

School district officials claim there had been 47 “secure” or “lockdown” events since February 2022. Around 90% of those had been because of bailouts, according to King5.

Just minutes before the mass murder took place, the gunman stole his grandmother’s truck after shooting her in the face. He did not have a driver’s license and ran the truck into a ditch near the school. He got out of the vehicle and began shooting at the school before casually walking inside the building to begin his killing spree.

Authorities believe that the killer’s crash was seen as just another “bailout” that may have caused the police to slow their response to the incident, according to the report.

Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin actually addressed the ‘bailout’ scourge two months before the massacre.

“Forty-eight times last year we had to lock down the public schools because of bailouts in our community — 48 times, but you don’t hear that on the news,” McLaughlin noted.

“We’re seeing the traffic up more; the ‘gottaways’ and the ‘walkarounds are up probably 200 percent,” he told National Review. Many of the illegal immigrants are single adult men.

The “bailout” situation does not excuse local, state, and federal law enforcement from taking over an hour to storm the classroom where the killer was making a stand. Nearly 400 officers descended on the school that day and proceeded to wait and not immediately take down the shooter which might have saved lives that day.

“At Robb Elementary, law enforcement responders failed to adhere to their active shooter training, and they failed to prioritize saving innocent lives over their own safety,” the damning report asserted.

“The void of leadership could have contributed to the loss of life as injured victims waited over an hour for help, and the attacker continued to sporadically fire his weapon,” it concluded.
