The evidence continues to make the case that the United States response to COVID was an unmitigated disaster with Dr. Deborah Birx at the forefront of policy. Now, more than two years after pushing lockdowns without evidence to support the measure, the former White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator has fallen back on blaming a Chinese lab leak by saying the virus “came out of the box ready to infect.”
Political science has often appeared to be the true driving force behind the handling of the pandemic as certain lines of questioning were deemed taboo and scientific studies were dismissed outright if they didn’t meet the prevailing narrative. With the damage already done, revisionists like Birx are attempting to cleanup a record of failure as facts weigh heavily against her.
In speaking with the Daily Mail Sunday, the doctor threw blame upon the Chinese government for covering up how contagious COVID was as it “was already more infectious than flu when it first arrived,” in the United States.
It “came out of the box ready to infect” Birx told the outlet and said that could only mean that it was an “abnormal thing of nature” or that Chinese scientists were “working on coronavirus vaccines” and there was a leak.
“Someone working in the lab with one of the strains could’ve caught it and not know they had it,” she said.
The doctor’s logic was based off of asymptomatic spread of the virus which had not been admitted by China. “China was implying that they were containing it, but asymptomatic spread cannot be contained without testing,” she argued.
Birx went on to add that she thought, “the world lost several months of preparation because we were thinking there wasn’t that level of human-to-human spread when there clearly was,” however, that doesn’t lineup with the manner in which she has peddled the response.
In June, the doctor had defended the use of mandates stating, “sometimes we use mandates because we don’t want to take the time to explain the science and data and really have people understand who should be using them and why they should be using them.”

However, as Jeffrey Tucker of the Brownstone Institute pointed out in a breakdown of Birx’s book, “Silent Invasion: The Untold Story of the Trump Administration, Covid-19, and Preventing the Next Pandemic Before It’s Too Late,” the doctor was all too willing to impose mandates without having any available date for herself to justify it.
“Fifteen Days to Slow the Spread was a start,” Birx wrote, “but I knew it would be just that. I didn’t have the numbers in front of me yet to make the case for extending it longer, but I had two weeks to get them. However hard it had been to get the fifteen-day shutdown approved, getting another one would be more difficult by many orders of magnitude. In the meantime, I waited for the blowback, for someone from the economic team to call me to the principal’s office or confront me at a task force meeting. None of this happened.”
This is just the tip of the iceberg of the unscientific means by which government agencies have pushed policy on the American people and experts at the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have had enough. As previously reported, they are now leaving en masse to get away from the “bad science” being practiced.

All the while, Dr. Anthony Fauci and acolytes of panic porn continue to ramp up cause to reinstitute the draconian mandates that have proven, at best, unsuccessful at mitigating the spread of the virus. Birx told the Mail, “It happens, labs aren’t perfect, people aren’t perfect, we make mistakes and there can be contamination.”
However, while she shifts blame to China, others are noting her culpability in the immeasurable damage caused to the United States through lockdowns.
