Biden to sign executive action on abortion access to circumvent court

President Joe Biden is expected to announce that he will sign an executive order on abortion Friday in an attempt to circumvent the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade after getting intense pressure from Democrats who are demanding he “do something.”

Three sources have reportedly told the Associated Press that Biden will speak “on protecting access to reproductive health care services.” The president will allegedly outline actions he intends to take to prevent women seeking an abortion from being slapped with penalties following the SCOTUS ruling. Rumored actions involve military bases, the use of federal lands, and the mailing of abortion pills nationwide.

It’s anticipated that Biden will instruct the Departments of Justice and Health and Human Services to hamper state efforts to limit a woman’s ability to cross state lines in order to terminate a pregnancy or to receive abortion medication.

Other actions that Biden seeks to take include directing agencies to educate medical providers and insurers concerning when it is appropriate and legal to share privileged patient information with authorities. He will allegedly ask the Federal Trade Commission to take action to protect the privacy of those seeking information about abortions online. Google has already said it will erase location data for those visiting abortion clinics.

Vice President Kamala Harris will reportedly attend Biden’s speech on Friday and then will meet with political leaders from Indiana, Florida, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Montana who are “fighting on the frontlines to protect reproductive rights.”

Meanwhile, Reuters is reporting, “For the past nine months, U.S. health officials have been flying or driving minors from Texas shelters to other states for abortions.” All at taxpayers’ expense.

Biden has been hammered by the left for not doing something on abortion rights in the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade two weeks ago. The SCOTUS decision hands the issue back to the individual states who then can decide whether abortion should be legal or not on a local level.

“There is a leadership vacuum right now and he’s not filling it,” Adam Jentleson, who is a former adviser to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), said according to the Washington Examiner.

The president has protested that his ability to protect abortion access is constitutionally limited and he has called on Congress to codify Roe v. Wade. He is also urging that more Democrats be elected in order to stop abortion from being banned at the state level.

“Ultimately, Congress is going to have to act to codify Roe into federal law,” Biden stated. Currently, Democrats in the Senate do not have enough votes to do so.

“If extremist governors try to block a woman from traveling from a state that prohibits her from seeking the medical help she needs to a state that provides that care, we will act to protect her bedrock rights,” he tweeted on Thursday. “If states try to block a woman from getting medication the FDA has already approved and that has been available for more than twenty years, we will act to protect that woman’s right to that medication.”

Negating his previous stance on the filibuster, Biden is now asserting it should not stand in the way of codifying Roe v. Wade.

“But right now, we don’t have the votes to change the filibuster. That means we need to elect more Democratic senators and reelect our House majority in November to get this bill to my desk,” he advised.

“Personal freedoms are on the ballot” this November but until then his administration will “do everything within our power to ensure that women have access to the medication they need and that they will have the freedom to travel to seek the care they need,” Biden tweeted on Tuesday.
