Hypocrite Gavin Newsom visits Montana for Fourth of July R&R after issuing LGBTQ+ travel ban

Calling out leftist hypocrisy never grows old.

The latest example comes courtesy of serial offender Gavin Newsom, the ultra-leftist governor of ultra-left California, who decided to spend some time in the great state of Montana. The Treasure State just so happens to be one of 20 states that Newsom has sanctimoniously and self-righteously prohibited officials from traveling to on the Californian public’s dime, citing its “discriminatory” laws against the LGBTQ crowd.

Naturally, none of that applies to Newsom himself, who goes wherever he wants, whenever he wants. On July 1, Newsom’s office announced that he’d fled the Golden State for some rest and relaxation, though it declined to specify where he was going. Power was temporarily handed over to Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, who is, if anything, an ever more lunatic leftist than Newsom.

Some persistent sleuthing by CalMatters reporter Emily Hoeven, however, uncovered Newsom’s whereabouts, revealing that he was languishing in Montana, a deep red state where his in-laws own a sizable ranch. He’s expected to return to California on July 11.

When asked by Hoeven to comment about a top Democrat politician choosing to vacation in a notoriously red state, Newsom’s spokesman Anthony York responded: “We don’t legislate where people vacation. Never have. The travel ban applies to expending state funds. The Governor’s travel is not being paid for by the state.”

York further clarified on Twitter, writing: “The travel ban applies to using state funds. The Governor’s travel is not being paid by the state. Connecting the two is an attempt at gotcha journalism that is neither gotcha nor journalism. The governor is on a vacation with his family. He will return later this week.”

But despite York’s assurances, there’s the open question of whether Newsom was accompanied by security during his vacation, which would probably entail the expenditure of state funds, unless Newsom paid for security services himself, which is highly unlikely.

It didn’t take long for conservatives to chide the governor about his interesting travel destination.

“The price of gas in Montana is about $2.50 cheaper a gallon than in California…Astounding that he would run ads in Florida & vacation in the red state of Montana while California families can’t afford to travel thanks to Dems,” tweeted California Republican National Committeewoman Harmeet Dhillon.

“Gonna be hilarious when he vacations to Miami,” tweeted Ben Shapiro.

Stephen L. Miller weighed in to suggest that people on the left may not want to get their hopes up about Newsom.

Newsom has also garnered a great deal of mockery recently for his plan to buy cable ad space in Florida, apparently in an attempt to woo residents of the Sunshine State to flee the tyrannical right-wing dictator Ron DeSantis and come to California—the same state Newsom couldn’t wait to escape to, of all places, Montana.
