Meghan McCain provoked bipartisan mockery and derision by revealing that she’s begun considering running for office to save America from former President Donald Trump and his “Make America Great Again” movement.
“Maybe in a few years. It’s the first time in my entire life I’ve ever considered it. But this fever of MAGA has to break — one way or the other,” she said when asked about the prospect of her seeking office.
She added that she’d like to see more “ideological diversity” in the Republican Party.
“President Trump has to get re-elected — God forbid — again, or he has to just leave the national stage. Because as we have seen in the last election and in the primaries right now, he can’t make candidates but he can break them,” she said.
“And right now there’s still just a lot of people who are winning that are following in his footsteps and I would really love more ideological diversity in the party,” she continued.
She made the remarks during an interview on GBNews, a conservative-leaning British news channel:
Her remarks provoked a bipartisan response, which made sense given as she’s disliked equally by conservatives and liberals.
She’s disliked by members of the left precisely because she’s a conservative. But she’s also disliked by members of the right because she’s virulently anti-Trump.
During her tenure on “The View,” she’d sometimes earn praise from conservatives for making a valid point. But she’d then flush the praise down the toilet by turning around and trashing then-President Donald Trump.
After she left the show, she released a memoir, “Bad Republican: A Memoir.” The book performed extremely poorly.
“[T]he hardcover edition of McCain’s book … is a massive flop. How massive? As of Friday, it’s sold a measly 244 copies since its release on April 26. To that into perspective, in its 11 days of release, it managed to sell an average of about 22 copies per day,” Uproxx reported in early May.
She could barely sell more than a couple dozen books which tells me people have no interest in hearing from her or seeing her outer space hairstyles!

If Megan Mc Cain runs for office she might get more votes than the numbers of books she sold Might 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The book’s poor performance likely stemmed from the fact that literally everybody dislikes McCain.
So much so, in fact, that some critics wonder whether even her own family members would vote for her if she did indeed run for office.
Seriously at this point I don’t even thing her mother would vote for her.

No one likes her. It’s not even about politics, no one likes her as a person

Critics also wonder whether she’d exploit her deceased father’s name and prestige to boost her campaign.
Back in 2019, she got slack from the left for downplaying the detention of illegal alien children. The left at the time had falsely described the detention centers as “torture facilities and concentration camps,” as reported by The Daily Beast.
“I understand it’s a humanitarian crisis. It’s horrific to detain — like you said, people in jail get soap and toothpaste. But I know what a torture facility looks like. I’ve been to one,” she said at the time while speaking on “The View.”
“When you have a facility whose specific purpose is to torture people, that is not what’s going on. Yes, it’s inhumane but there’s a big difference between a Hanoi Hilton and what’s happening at the border right now!”
“Hanoi Hilton” was a reference to Hỏa Lò Prison, a prison camp in which her father had spent time as a POW during the Vietnam War.
Her campaign slogan will be “don’t you know who my dad is?”.

I bet every one of her campaign statements starts with, “My father …”

I am John McCain’s daughter. I will run on this platform alone and that should be enough to get me elected. Don’t forget – I am also John McCain’s SIL’s wife and the mother of John McCain’s granddaughter.

Meghan McCain is running for office. I’m so sure there will be a ceremony laden publicity stunt that will see her as a maverick as her father will be exhumed so she can drag his corpse on the campaign trail instead of just posing with her book at his grave. Too soon?

All this said, she does still have her supporters, including the couple hundred people who bought her book, and also including those “Republicans” who also hate Trump.
But even they don’t seem to like her on a personal level:
Seems like she’s trying to steer the GOP away from Trumpism. I don’t think much of her but I do support her doing that.
