Fireworks have been exploding across the leftist media universe after the Supreme Court’s tour de force of a week in which conservative justices overturned Roe v. Wade, shot down a restrictive New York gun law, defended religious freedom, and dealt a major blow to the climate change zealots, leading the highly volatile MSNBC regular Elie Mystal to blast President Joe Biden over the flurry of rulings that torpedoed the Democrat agenda.
The bomb-throwing justice correspondent for far-left publication “The Nation” railed against the court which he suggested was racist during an appearance on Friday’s edition of “All In With Chris Hayes” to kick off the long Fourth of July holiday weekend.
“Basically this term was the nightmare scenario,” whined Hayes as he bemoaned the week that shook “woke” leftists to the core. “This was it, this was just about as bad as it could possibly be, right?”
Mystal replied, immediately going to the race card, “I have this as the worst Supreme Court term since 1857, that’s the court that unleashed the Dred Scott decision which basically unleashed the Civil War,” referring to Scott v. Sanford which ruled that those of African descent either free or enslaved were not U.S. citizens and therefore had no right to seek legal remedy through the courts.”
After an extended rant accusing today’s SCOTUS conservatives of being extremists compared to previous justices appointed by Republican presidents and claiming that they don’t care about reality, Mystal resorted to colorful language to express his contempt for the current court.
“What we have, it’s like a bad science fiction novel Chris,” he raved.
“It’s like when you know, they release an invasive predator to defeat some other predator, but we’re at the release the bat stage right, and the problem with those science fiction novels is that once the thing finishes eating whatever you sent it to eat, it keeps feeding,” he said, using dehumanizing rhetoric to portray the conservative justices as less than human.
He added, “And that’s all these conservatives are going to do, they’re going to keep feeding on the rights and dignity of others until somebody, somebody in the government, somebody in the other branches of government, stops them.”
Mystal then lowered the boom on Biden after Hayes used President Abraham Lincoln as justification for bringing the court “to heel” by expanding it during the Civil War era.
“The court has no money, it has no power to tax, and it has no army,” Mystal said. “The person who can stop the court is the executive of the United States, the president of the United States. But right now – and I wouldn’t say that I am angry at Biden right now, I am sad, I am sad … Because you know who remembers 30 years ago? Joe Biden. Joe Biden remembers the hokey past of bipartisanship where he can reach out to conservatives who are concerned about practical governance.”
“Those people don’t exist now, but Joe Biden never got the memo. he continued. “And so I’m sad that in this crucial moment, we have a president who is unwilling, who is so ossified in his past thinking, that he won’t stand with his people at this critical moment to take power back – not for himself, because he doesn’t matter. But to take power back for the American people, from these unelected, unaccountable judges,” he concluded.
