SCOTUS drops major EPA ruling and leftists are LOSING their minds

The Supreme Court just handed down another ruling that has sent the liberals of the United States spiraling into despair.

The 6-3 court ruling in the West Virginia v Environmental Protection Agency “sharply curtails the authority of the EPA to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions.”

The EPA was sued by coal companies as well as the state of West Virginia, and the Supreme Court was asked “to consider the statutory limitations imposed on the Environmental Protection Agency by the Clean Air Act when it attempts to regulate emissions emanating from stationary sources.”

Conservatives argued that the EPA was not in a position to create significant changes to the country’s power grid, thus further expanding the regulatory agency’s power to an unprecedented level. Ultimately, the ruling would have significant impacts on the powers of unelected agencies.

By ruling for West Virginia, and thus siding with the conservative argument, the Supreme Court massively curtailed the EPA’s authority under the Clean Power Plan which was enacted by former President Barack Obama as a method of combatting climate change.

A portion of the court’s opinion reads as follows:

Capping carbon dioxide emissions at a level that will force a nationwide transition away from the use of coal to generate electricity may be a sensible “solution to the crisis of the day.” New York v. United States, 505 U. S. 144, 187 (1992). But it is not plausible that Congress gave EPA the authority to adopt on its own such a regulatory scheme in Section 111(d). A decision of such magnitude and consequence rests with Congress itself, or an agency acting pursuant to a clear delegation from that representative body. The judgment of the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit is reversed, and the cases are remanded for further proceedings consistent with this opinion.

Effectively, the EPA alone does not have the authority to enact restrictions that are so powerful that they will alter the way the country currently runs, as well as the primary source of energy for millions of people. Such changes would require an act of Congress.

Reaction regarding the ruling was mixed, though the left was swift and dramatic in their responses:
