DeSantis team mocks Newsom for buying ad space in FLORIDA: ‘Might as well light a pile of cash on fire’

Governor Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) foolishly decided that it would be a great way to fight the popularity of Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) by running desperate ads in his state in what looks like a bid for the presidency in 2024.

The response from DeSantis’ campaign was epic after the leftist and increasingly unpopular Newsom bought ad space in Florida. Newsom’s re-election campaign spent roughly $105,000 on cable television ads that will air on Fox News in the state beginning on July 4, according to SFGate and Medium Buying’s Twitter account.

After the spokesperson for DeSantis’ campaign, Dave Abrams, figuratively picked himself up off the floor from laughing, he told The Daily Wire, “Gavin Newsom might as well light a pile of cash on fire. Pass the popcorn for his desperate attempt to win back the California refugees who fled the hellhole he created in his state to come to Florida.”

“The people of Florida pay no mind to the pathetic smear campaigns from the Democrats and their allies in the corporate media. We’re too busy enjoying the freedom Governor Ron DeSantis has created in the Sunshine State,” he proclaimed.

In a further jab at Newsom, DeSantis’ campaign website is hilariously selling mugs that say, “I [heart] CA but I wish my governor was Ron DeSantis.”

Both DeSantis and Newsom are up for reelection in November. DeSantis, however, is being floated as a 2024 presidential contender in the Republican Party. His massive popularity rivals that of former President Donald Trump and he has the Democrats running scared. Enter Gavin Newsom.

It is not clear what the emphasis of Newsom’s ads will be but it is likely they will deal with education, the environment, race, and abortion.

Newsom has deflected in the past when asked if he intends to run for the presidency. He’s gone so far as to claim he has “subzero interest” in it. But it would be shocking if he didn’t have aspirations for the top job and with the bench for the Democrats being so thin these days, he probably sees an opportunity to grab the golden ring.

Newsom has gone out of his way to criticize Republican governors in other states such as Texas and Florida.

His latest political propaganda move is offering up California as a “sanctuary state” for women who want to get an abortion, traveling from states that no longer support the murder of the unborn. He’s also thumbing his nose at the Supreme Court over gun rights.

“The GOP’s America: the nation of gun care and health control,” he tweeted. “Extremist Republicans across the nation are trying to eliminate fundamental American freedoms.”

Newsom has also tried to use the tragic mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas to his advantage.

He publically blamed Governor Greg Abbott (R-Texas) for the incident.

According to SFGate, the California governor advised Americans to not “give in to the cynicism and all the crap you heard today in that press conference around evil and mental health, [which] completely belies the fact that there’s only one nation on planet Earth that separates itself from all other nations, and that’s the United States of America, in the perversion of a Second Amendment that begins around ‘well-regulated’ gun policy.”

After the Supreme Court overturned the landmark abortion case Roe vs. Wade, he asserted the high court “want[s] to strip women of their liberty and let Republican states replace it with mandated birth,” according to The Daily Wire.

He falsely claimed that the justices want to go back to a time “when women were not treated as equal citizens under the law.”
