Carnage in Chicago: 5-month-old baby girl killed after being shot in the head

A five-month-old baby girl is the latest victim of lawless criminals responsible for Chicago’s out-of-control crime wave.

The baby was shot in the head on Friday evening while in a vehicle. The scene unfolded after another vehicle approached and an occupant fired several rounds from inside the vehicle, FOX32 reported.

Cecelia Thomas was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital where she was initially reported to be in critical condition but later died from the gunshot wound.

She was just 4 days away from turning 6 months old, Natalia Derevyanny, Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office spokesperson told AP.

A 41-year-old male who was in a different vehicle was also shot near his eye. He drove himself to the University of Chicago Medical Center and was reported in good condition.

A community activist said the shooter may have been driving a red Chrysler although authorities have not confirmed.

“And it’s supposed to have been a female shooter, and my message to her, it won’t be long because I hope one of these cameras or somebody got her information and knows how she looks. You just took this baby’s life. This baby was an infant, this baby didn’t do nothing to you. We understand it may have been two cars shooting back and forth at each other. We’re not going to stand for this in this city,” Andrew Holmes said.

“We need this city to do what we got to do to put eyes on this young lady, on this driver until both of them have been arrested because this is disgusting, this is a disgrace, this is as low as you can get,” Holmes said.

Although the gunman pulled the trigger, many on social media wanted to hold the city’s mayor, Lori Lightfoot and her leftist cronies accountable for the city’s failed crime policies that have encouraged criminals to commit more crimes.

Police have not made any arrests or provided further details on the incident.

Mayoral candidate Ja’Mal Green offered a $5,000 reward in exchange for information that would help police locate and arrest the shooter.

“A 5-month-old girl was just shot in the head in Chicago. My heart breaks for this young girl & her family,” he said in a statement. “I am offering a $5,000 reward NOW to someone who comes forward to give answers that can lead to an arrest & conviction! $2,500 when they are arrested, $2,500 when convicted. It’s time to get to the root of this violence so we can create a better city for our Children.”

Chicago has already seen a dozen people shot this weekend as of Sunday morning, according to a report by Fox News. The Chicago Police Department’s records indicate there have been 282 recorded homicides from Jan 1 to June 19 this year and a total of 797 last year.
