Republican Rep. Mayra Flores, whose victory in a deep blue Texas special election last week was seen as a bellwether for the upcoming midterms, was peppered with questions about the batty QAnon conspiracy theory during a Fox News interview, having to repeatedly tell her inquisitors to focus on real issues.

Flores appeared on Thursday’s edition of “America Reports” where she discussed her big win in the Lone Star State’s 34th congressional district with anchors Sandra Smith and John Roberts when the duo shifted the topic to tweets for which she was accused of supporting the wild conspiracy that has been used by the media to paint all supporters of former President Donald J. Trump as lunatics using a broad brush.

After she expressed gratitude to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk for creating jobs in South Texas, Roberts tried to put her on the spot over her Twitter activity.

“Final question for you here,” he began. “I just want to give you an opportunity to this because some of your critics have pointed out that a couple of years ago when you were the chairwoman for the Hispanic outreach of the Republican Party of Hidalgo County you put a couple of social media posts out there that included hashtags for QAnon, and I’m just wondering where you come down on that whole QAnon?”

The first Mexican-born woman to be elected to Congress answered, “I’ll say it over and over, it was a hashtag, and my post was actually against it. I have never supported any of those conspiracies and none of this nonsense, and again…”

Roberts tried to cut her off as Smith glowered, “So why…?”

Flores continued, “So Washington wants us to focus on nonsense, I’m focused on the issues that matter in my district and right now, we’re focused on the increase of gas, increase of groceries and the increase of healthcare and so many other issues. Please..”

Smith then joined the tag-teaming of the new congresswoman.“Why was it included in the tweets, though?” she asked. “It was an account obviously managed by you, why was it even included?”

“Stay focused!” Flores said. “Stay focused! Stay focused on the issues that matter.”

Roberts jumped in, “We are focused on the issues that matter, I think that anybody that watches Fox News would tell you that,” he said. “we’re just wondering what you say to the critics who point to that and we’re curious why you would have included those in the first place?”

“I’ve said it over and over, never supported any of those conspiracies,” Flores chided him. “Again, stay focused on the issues that really matter to the American people, border crisis and of course the economy.”

“Fair enough,” Roberts said, disappointed that Flores didn’t take the bait. “Good to talk to you. Congresswoman Mayra Flores from the great state of Texas. We will be seeing more of you. No question about that.”
