Biden admin sends fleeing migrants back to Cuba: ‘They reject communism and won’t vote Democrat’

The politics of the left are firmly rooted in maintaining and expanding power. Any perceived threat against that foundation is to be thwarted even if doing so is a flagrant contradiction to the narrative writ large.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that while the United States southern border with Mexico has remained wide open with tens of thousands of immigrants illegally crossing each day, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has seemingly focused border security efforts on the mere hundreds fleeing Cuba. The simple reality, in the eyes of many, is that those seeking to escape the horrors of communism are among the least likely to vote for progressives who wish to impose those evils on Americans.

The New York Post covered a recent news release from the U.S. Coast Guard Seventh District that prompted journalist Miranda Devine to opine, “Mayorkas doesn’t want Cubans because they reject communism and won’t vote Democrat.”

According to the Coast Guard, since Oct. 1, 2021, their crews have interdicted 2,464 Cubans. This number is a dramatic spike after a downward trend throughout former President Donald Trump’s administration.

In President Barack Obama’s last year in office, there were 5,396 Cuban immigrants repatriated. However, through Trump’s tenure, these numbers declined to 1,468, 259, 313, and 49 respectively from 2016-2020 only to climb again to 838 interdictions during Biden’s first year in office.

“So we got millions pouring over our Southern border here in Texas and we don’t want to let this poor boat of people in I see,” one person commented on the news, adding, “I wonder if it’s because traditionally Cubans tend to vote Republican I can’t imagine any other reason considering the whole world is pouring in.”

Lt. Cmdr. Mark Cobb of the Coast Guard Seventh District explained the uptick in interdictions on shoddy vessels that also saw 52 Cubans stopped off the Florida Keys on June 14, “The possibility of being stopped by Coast Guard crews while illegally migrating through the Caribbean Sea is high. No one should risk their lives on unsafe rustic vessels in unpredictable seas.”

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden boasted on Monday, “Today on World Refugee Day, I join people around the world in recognizing the strength, resilience, and humanity of the millions of refugees forced to flee violence, persecution, and war. Those who find refuge in America — a proud nation of immigrants — enrich our country.”

Because of the massive failure at the border, Mayorkas has been threatened with impeachment and asked to resign by members of Congress and state attorneys general, and Democrats are steadily losing the support of Hispanic voters in traditional strongholds.

However, the biggest irony of the efforts from the left to promote the illegal behavior of their preferred groups while impeding legitimate asylum seekers is that Mayorkas was born in Havana, Cuba the same year Fidel Castro rose to power as prime minister.
