‘The Chicks’ were forced to cut their Indianapolis concert short, with the ladies now on doctor’s orders for vocal rest.
The trio of Natalie Maines, Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire, formerly known as “The Dixie Chicks,” only performed a handful of songs before they had to end their concert, leaving fans concerned and confused.
The official statement put out by the group failed to explain the reason behind the sudden ending, but promised disappointed concertgoers that they would have another chance to see the band. However, a later update indicated that the band will cancel future shows after being ordered to take a vocal rest.

“Indianapolis, we are so sorry we could not give you the show you deserved OR the show we wanted to give you. We will be back Indianapolis!! Hold onto your tickets,” read a tweeted statement.

Fans theorized about the reason behind the doctor’s order, though some were not as sympathetic:
I heard it was allergies. I hope you feel better Natalie. I’m horribly allergic to goldenrod so I’m not looking forward to late summer/fall so I totally empathize

Our society has moved on from integrity on every front. I mean, what about all that driving, gas, paying babysitters, parking, hotel, and time taken away from other things?

Maybe someone in the show was sick, it happens! Hope they are feeling better if that was case.

“The Chicks” officially changed their name from “The Dixie Chicks” in the summer of 2020, as the Black Lives Matter movement heated up in the wake of the death of George Floyd.
