An Asian, autistic Democrat who promoted the Defund the Police movement and formerly lived near “the projects” in Harlem, decided to move in with her boyfriend in Manhattan over “safety issues.”
Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou (D-Lower Manhattan) has actively advocated for cutting police funding and has pushed gun control in New York City. She hypocritically relocated to her new digs in the financial district because she didn’t feel safe in the old one, according to the New York Post.
The leftist politician told The Low Down in 2016 when she was seeking election to her current seat that she moved because she had been witness to two crimes and was allegedly a victim herself.
“I actually was robbed when I was living in Harlem. My boyfriend at the time, my fiancé, didn’t think I was safe up there, so he told me to move in, and so that’s how I moved to the Financial District with him,” she stated during the interview. “He was already living there.”
“Defund the police! …in my old neighborhood where I didn’t feel safe so the people who still live there can be even less safe.”

Her latest campaign issues section that severely lacks introspection reads, “She believes that we are long overdue for police reform in this country and that we need to defund millions from the police in order to put critical funding back into our social services, education, and housing.”
Niou’s bid for the newly configured Lower Manhattan-Brooklyn House seat has been endorsed by high-ranking Democrats in the city. Those include “Sex and the City” star and former gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon, the leftist New York Communities for Change, and state Sen. Julia Salazar (D-Bushwick), among other powerful Democrats.
One of the incidents that drove her away from Harlem in 2016 included a claim that Niou had “watched a girl get raped on a pile of garbage, right across the street from the projects,” where she lived at the time. Then she claimed to have witnessed a man “slam a girl’s head … into an ATM machine” and rob her before taking off.
“We have a lot of safety issues,” Niou stated. “Some of the things that happen on the Lower East Side are very parallel, so these are all incidents that kind of led to me moving down to the Financial District and moving in with my partner.”
"Except Yuh-Line Niou has — ironically or not — campaigned, supported, and voted for all the policies that have led us to the point where aggressive, ugly and even criminal behavior is tolerated in the name of social justice." https://t.co/zgmH1dHkdc

She was engaged at the time to David Segura, who founded Giant Media. Since 2017, Niou has represented the 65th District, which includes the Financial District, Battery Park City, Chinatown, and the Lower East Side.
Assemblywoman Inez Dickens has represented parts of Harlem in the City Council and Albany since 2006. She slammed Niou for being “hypocritical” and leaving the area because of crime.
“You move out of the neighborhood because you say it’s unsafe, then you say ‘defund the police?’ You turn around and desert the community — and then say you don’t need the police?” Dickens, who is a Democrat, angrily vented according to the New York Post. “That’s hypocritical.”
“I didn’t leave my community, and there are times when I feel unsafe,” she pointed out.
Recently, Niou has again stepped in it concerning the NYPD. Earlier this year, she was blasted for labeling a number of cops entering a subway station following a funeral for a fallen NYPD Officer Jason Rivera a “frightening show of intimidation,” and liked a tweet that compared the officers to Nazis.
She also seems to have a penchant for exaggeration. The New York Post reported that she asserted that she helped save lives during the pandemic. Niou has made other specious claims as well.
She is now running in New York’s 10th Congressional District. Candidates for the Aug. 23 Democratic primary include ex-Mayor Bill de Blasio, Rep. Mondaire Jones, Councilwoman Carlina Rivera, and the head lawyer for former President Donald Trump’s first impeachment, Daniel Goldman.
All worst of the worst candidates.
Bill DeBlasio – Single handedly destroyed New York City as mayor
Yuh-Line Niou – Calls to defund the police and made fun of two police officers who died
Mondaire Jones – Puppet for the Albany Democrats
