Somewhere along the line as Vice President Kamala Harris advanced in her career in politics, rising from the District Attorney of San Francisco to the second highest ranked official in the United States, someone must have told her that it’s not what you say that counts, but how you say it – and it shows.
The latest loquacious performance put on by the vice president came when she joined MSNBC’s Joy Reid for a Juneteenth celebration called “The Culture Is: Black Women” that emphasized the host’s narrow view of the world that sees all issues through the prism of race. The friendly interview should have been like tee-ball practice for Harris, except her desire to sound clever was spoiled by her seeming inability to stop impersonating a broken record.
Joy was the order of the day for the vice president as she addressed Joy Reid about her joy at seeing Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson field questions during her Senate confirmation hearing. Reid seemed to set Harris up to dismantle Republican senators who had dared to challenge Jackson’s record and instead received more than a minute of the vice president looking like she was reading a teleprompter that only displayed one word at a time.
“I will tell you, Joy,” she paused to draw attention to how proud she was of the wordplay she was about to engage in. “I experienced great joy when I watched this brilliant, phenomenal, black woman, jurist be so smart and just cut through the political gamesmanship that they were attempting to incite. And she just was composed and, as far as I’m concerned, was taking a whole lotta people to school.”
“And I watched that with incredible joy,” Harris went on, “cause it was just brilliance being displayed for the entire country to see and I cannot wait to see…that will only be matched by the joy that I experience when I see her take the oath to be the next justice on the United States Supreme Court.”
she forgot to repeat the question, and say “very very very very very”.

Guess it’s good her name isn’t Misery.

I think she may have grade schooler in charge of the teleprompter. “Space is big” is a personal fav

Unfortunately, these kinds of displays from Harris are the norm and not the exception as word salad seems to be the only oratory option she serves. So as she has shown us how to “work together and continue to work together” as “we will work on this together,” all while we marvel at the “great significance to the passage of time” after “talking about the significance of the passage of time,” we’re only left with the option of cringing in anticipation of her next adjective choice.
It’s so painful to watch

That took her over a minute to say lmfao. What a stupid tool.

“Actually you have to have 1000 words for your essay.”
>Kamala Harris, “hold my beer.”

And the critiques of the vice president’s penchant for using as many words as possible to say next to nothing didn’t even touch on the inaccuracy of her statement to viewers of Jackson’s hearing who noted her inability to answer the basic question, “What is a women?”
“So smart” that she couldn’t even define the word “woman”.

“taking them to school..”
but definitely not biology!

Harris says “brilliance” was displayed by a woman who was unable to define a woman. Brilliant! Hilarious.
