CNN commentator Van Jones hit his shocked CNN colleagues right between the eyes on Friday with a wallop of truth, telling them that the Democrats were chasing off middle-class Americans with terms like “Latinx” and “BIPOC.”
He called the language of the left “just weird,” telling “New Day” anchors John Berman and Brianna Keilar that it didn’t appeal to everyday, hard-working voters who make up the majority of their base. With an elitist message that panders to the very poor or the very wealthy elite but no one else, Van Jones appears to believe it could cost the Democrats in the midterm elections. He argued the party lacks a cohesive message.
Jones commented that the Democratic Party was quickly becoming “the party of the very high and the very low,” asserting that they were working so aggressively to cater to the academic elites and those at the very bottom of the economic ladder that the largest group of potential voters was getting lost in the political shuffle.
“If you pull out the working class, you’ve got people who are very well educated and very well off. Those people talk funny — Latinx? I’ve never met a Latinx. I’ve never met a BIPOC. I’ve never met — you know — all this weird stuff that these highly-educated people say, it’s bizarre. Nobody talks that way at the barber shop, the nail salon, the grocery store, the community center — but that’s how we talk now, so that’s weird,” the former Obama official bluntly told the hosts who looked at him with blank-faced, numbed disbelief.

Ironically, they didn’t seem to get that they represent exactly the ones in the Democratic Party that Van Jones is talking about… wealthy, out-of-touch, white liberals.
“And then the people who are very low down on the economic ladder need a bunch of stuff,” Jones remarked. “You wind up overpromising — you know, ‘We’ve gotta give you reparations,’ to people at the bottom of the economic ladder, talking weird to appeal to people at the top of the economic ladder, and the working class walks away from you. That is the danger we’re facing.”
During the segment, Jones also said Republican Texas Representative-elect Mayra Flores’ victory in Tuesday’s special election is a warning sign for Democrats due to “MAGA Republicans” representing the “multi-racial working class” by moving left economically and to the right culturally.
“Democrats don’t see this coming, we overreact to the culture moves and under-react to the economic appeal and you’re seeing it pay off for MAGA,” he pointed out. “If Democrats want working-class black and working-class Latino voters, we’re gonna have to change our strategy and respond to the MAGA threat.”
Van Jones calls out the nonsense of the democrat party elites to their faces on their own propaganda station to the shock of the CNN hosts. Latinx? he asks. Never met one.
A made-up virtue-signal name that their own people have never bought and despise, but that they keep using.

Jones’ astute observations are not alone on the left. Longtime Democratic strategist James Carville has repeatedly broached the subject of the party’s obsessive focus on “woke” language at the expense of issues that real people want to discuss.
“I mean, this ‘defund the police’ lunacy, this take Abraham Lincoln’s name off of schools. I mean that — people see that,” Carville contended following Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin’s historic win in Virginia last November. “It’s just really — has a suppressive effect all across the country on the Democrats. Some of these people need to go to a ‘woke’ detox center or something. They’re expressing a language that people just don’t use, and there’s backlash and a frustration at that.”
