‘Very Catholic’ Pelosi complains it’s ‘uniquely American’ to politicize abortion after communion ban

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been very outspoken in her pro-abortion beliefs, so when San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone banned the liberal Democrat from receiving the Holy Sacrament of Communion, Pelosi, steadfast in her claims of being a good Catholic, wasn’t about to back down.

“Whatever I agree with the Pope on is not necessarily what public policy should be in the United States as people make their own judgments, honor their own responsibilities, attend to the needs of their families,” Pelosi said Thursday at her weekly press conference.

“Let me just say this,” she continued. “A woman has a right to choose to live up to her responsibility. It’s up to her, her doctor, her family, her husband, her significant other and her God.”

The explosive topic of abortion has been on the front burner of American dialogue since a Supreme Court opinion draft indicating that SCOTUS will soon be overturning its controversial 1973 Roe v. Wade decision was leaked to the press.

Since then, pro-abortion activists, politicians, and a complicit media have been acting as though the only reproductive choices a woman will once again have will involve wire coat hangers, despite the fact that, should the decision be overturned, abortion will still remain completely legal and free of all restrictions in any state that votes it so.

Still, Pelosi has never been bashful about her distrust of the federal government’s third branch in relation to women’s rights, especially when it comes to conservative Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

“Brett Kavanaugh has proven he cannot be trusted to defend a woman’s right to choose,” Pelosi tweeted back in July 2018. We must stand united against him & the ongoing Trump assault on women’s health care.”

Kavanaugh’s life was recently threatened at his home, which has been swarming with angry activists since the leak — a fact Nancy Pelosi was happy to downplay.

Yet, during her presser this week, Pelosi condemned those of faith who would politicize abortion.

“This talk of politicizing all of this, I think is something uniquely American and not right,” she said. “Other countries, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, have had legislative initiatives to expand a woman’s right to choose — very Catholic countries.”

“I’m a very Catholic person, and I believe in every woman’s right to make her own decisions,” she said.

As BizPac Review reported in May, Archbishop Cordileone did not agree.

“After numerous attempts to speak with Speaker Pelosi to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, an (sic) the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion,” he tweeted.

It would seem, however, that the Pope sides with Pelosi.

Following Cordileone’s tweet, Pope Francis passed over the archbishop for a promotion and instead elevated a bishop who is just fine with giving pro-abortion parishioners Communion.

 

The seeming nod of approval from the head of the Catholic Church has not swayed all of America’s bishops, as the debate rages on.

Catholic bishops in Santa Rosa, Calif., Arlington, Va., and even in Portland, Oregon, followed Archbishop Cordileone’s lead and have refused to allow Pelosi to receive Holy Communion in their churches.

  10. Abortion is illegal only in primitive, uneducated countries; Chile, Honduras, El Salvador, etc. Canada has zero laws concerning abortion. The largest supporter of roe vs wade was the American Protestant church. Look up the Clergy Consultation Service; 3000 ministers and church leaders who arranged at least 450,000 safe abortions for Christian women. Yes, really.

  12. Abortion up to birth is allowed in seven countries, including China, Vietnam, North Korea, South Korea, Canada, and the United States. Only three European countries allow abortion after 15 weeks. Most Americans want restrictions on abortion, and don’t support abortion up to birth. I never hear these evil, violent protesters ever mention birth control, which is cheap and easy to get. Women (and men) need to CHOOSE responsibility BEFORE they get pregnant. Abortion is NOT birth control.

    1. She thinks saying the rosary, eating fish on Friday during Lent, going to confession (if she goes) make her a good Catholic. The real spiritual beliefs don’t concern her. I think she’ll be very surprised about where she spends eternity, and maybe also the Pope.

    1. The NRA (National Rifle Association) murders 0 people and receives ($0) nothing in government funds. Planned Parenthood kills 350,000 babies every year and receives $500,000,000 in tax dollars annually. (This number has been verified, it consists of direct federal funding and reimbursements from Medicare and Medicaid (mostly Medicaid).

  17. First of all, abortion is not “women’s healthcare,” especially if it’s used as a form of birth control. Only around 1% of all terminated prenancies are due to rape, incest, potential death to the mother if she carries full-term, or severe congenital malformations. Women/girls are usiing abortion as their get-ou-of-jail-free card instead of being responsible and using true birth control.Always better to prevent a pregnancy than to terminate one. Accidents happen, but the unborn shouldn’t have to pay the price.

    Secondly, Pelosi uses her support of abortion when it serves her. And she proclaims what a good Catholic she is, when it serves her. It’s all about marketing herself and that’s 100% political. She needs to retreat to an elder-care facility and spend her remaining days eating ice cream and drinking top shelf scotch. She’s useless in any other capacity.
