‘Not enough’: ‘Woke’ NFL Hall of Famer wants more than $100K fine of Commanders coach Jack Del Rio

Apparently out for blood, a “woke” NFL Hall of Famer has complained that the fine levelled against Jack Del Rio for comparing the one-day Jan. 6th riot to the deadly, months-long Black Lives Matter riots of 2020 is “not enough.”

NFL Hall of Famer Ed Reed, a “woke” social justice warrior who thinks racism is one of “America’s biggest issues,” issued the complaint in a tweet posted Saturday.

“Today, im sick and tired! A dust up! 100,000 is not enough, money ain’t nothing to a person who is recycled through coaching. Its always one, first it was Saban now its Jack to just remind US what it is! Man if u coached by him put your pants on! Its simple right and wrong, Wrong,” he wrote.

As previously reported, the drama surrounding Del Rio, who serves as the defensive coordinator of the Washington Commanders, began last Monday when he posted a tweet saying he’d “love to understand … why the summer of riots, looting, burning and the destruction of personal property is never discussed but [the Jan. 6th riot] is.”

A day later, he doubled down, saying during a press conference that “businesses are being burned down, no problem… and then we have a dust-up at the Capitol, nothing burned down… and we’re gonna make that a major deal.”

Combined, the remarks triggered massive backlash that culminated in Del Rio issuing a groveling apology late Wednesday.

Two days later on Friday, Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera fined Del Rio $100,000 and issued a scathing statement condemning him for daring to compare the one-day Jan. 6th riot to the so-called “peaceful protests” of 2020.

But apparently, all of this punishment — being fined $100,000, being condemned by the Commanders’ coach, and facing reputational tarring and feathering from the media — isn’t enough for Reed.

Responding to Reed’s complaint, some critics blasted him for his faux outrage.

Responding to this whole controversy, Fox News host Tucker Carlson said late Friday that Rivera for his part is nothing more than a “fascist moron.”

“A few days ago, Del Rio pointed out that nobody seems to talk about the BLM riots anymore. Instead, they’re pretending to care about Jan. 6th. He was attacked for this because you’re not allowed to, like, tell the truth at any level whatsoever. So he came back and said he stood by his comments,” he said.

“He thought he had a right to respectfully express himself in the land of the free, but it turns out no. Just hours ago the coach of the Washington Commanders, a fascist moron called Ron Rivera, announced that Jack Del Rio has no right to talk, and he’s being fined $100,000 for doing it.”

  4. I agree with Jack DelRio. In my opinion, we have 535 Cowards in the ‘People’s’ house. If any 1 of them had come out to address the protesters on Jan. 6 and discuss their concerns, nothing would have happened. But, NO! The elected politicians IGNORED the concerns of the protesters, resulting in the outrage of the protesters. I do blame the elected Senators and Representatives for their lack of courage in addressing their Çonstituents”…

  8. Lets recap. A RETIRED Hall of Famer should stay retired. Just because you can run fast and catch a ball doesnt mean you have a brain. Even Forrest Gump could do that. Run Forrest Run! He looks like he just woke up, and im not talking about the group. That happened with him early on. Dont these guys know how to clean up? Theres a reason for mirrors in the bathroom. Try using one.

  12. I really dont care if fools cause themselves problems on social media. It’s self-inflicted wounds. The fine is the coaches right to punish an employee who brings heat to the organization. People forget, free speech is about government controlling speech, not companies. The first amendment doesn’t apply to your job and what you can say as a representative or employee of a company…period. Your company cant jail you for it, but they can punish you…even sue you if you have caused clear damage to the company that a judge or jury agrees that you have.

    As far as the NFL. I haven’t watched it for years. I only watched recorded games even before that so I could fast forward and only see the game, not the time-dragging nonsense. I have stuff to do, I dont have entire Sundays to sit around and watch TV. I stopped watching altogether as soon as they allowed the kneeling. I wouldn’t have the national anthem played for sporting events if I were in charge anyway, but I would also not let my league be used for politics of any kind, religion…none of it. Play the game and keep all the other crap out of it.

    That said, I enjoy some schadenfreude observing a brother-in-law who is an idiot democrat (only because his entire family tree has always been democrats…I have never heard him say anything Leftist except hating republicans). He is a life-long huge Redskins fan…garb, trinkets…everything emblazoned with the logo. He absolutely HATES the name Commanders and is very upset his Redskins are no more. It’s the lunacy from his side of politics that did this. A great example of reaping what you sow. I just smile when I think about it, because he cares so much. I dont care. It’s professional sports, it means nothing in the grand scheme of life.

When you are an employee of a team/business, standing in front of a banner with the team name, wearing team gear (visor) you are in fact (my opinion) representing the business, so what you say must fit their narrative or shut up, pay the fine, lose your job, are all possible and not an infringement of your rights. BTW, Ed Reed is a putz.

  21. The owners of the Washington Football team should fire coach Rivera and cancel the $100,000 fine of Del Rio.
