With the current term of the U.S. Supreme Court drawing to a close and a decision that could see the overturn of Roe v. Wade looming, the FBI released a statement Friday that emphasized precisely why the American people are losing faith in federal institutions.
Since Justice Samuel Alito’s draft majority opinion regarding Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was leaked at the beginning of May, there have been unrelenting protests ranging from mild to violent extremism. Despite the consistent and credible threats a number of these protests have presented, particularly to the conservative members of the court, the FBI waited until two days after a failed assassination attempt on Justice Brett Kavanaugh to declare they will not tolerate “violence or criminal activity under the guise of…demonstration.”
U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and Assistant Director in Charge Steven M. D’Antuono of the FBI Washington Field Office released a joint statement on “Public Safety in the Nation’s Capital” Friday that left much to be desired.

“The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia and the FBI’s Washington Field Office are committed to protecting the First Amendment rights of all Americans to express their views peacefully during demonstrations that take place on a regular basis in the nation’s capital, including at the Supreme Court,” the statement read adding, “We also have a responsibility to ensure public safety and the orderly conduct of government business.”
It went on to note, “We will not tolerate violence, destruction, interference with government functions, or trespassing on government property. We are committed to working closely with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to stop any individuals who intend to commit violence or criminal activity under the guise of carrying out a demonstration.”

However, since a 26-year-old suspect called 911 on himself after traveling from California to Kavanaugh’s home outside Washington, D.C. with the intent to kill the justice because of his potential vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and a pending case on gun control laws, protesters have been permitted to remain outside the homes of justices despite the apparent violation of US Code 1507.
Regarding picketing or parading, the code states, “Whoever, with the intent of interfering with, obstructing, or impeding the administration of justice, or with the intent of influencing any judge, juror, witness, or court officer, in the discharge of his duty, pickets or parades in or near a building housing a court of the United States, or in or near a building or residence occupied or used by such judge, juror, witness, or court officer, or with such intent uses any sound-truck or similar device or resorts to any other demonstration in or near any such building or residence, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.”
The sincerity of the FBI’s stance is also in question as, on the same day that the life of Kavanaugh was at risk, 90 claimants filed suit against the bureau for its failure to properly investigate claims of assault made against Dr. Larry Nassar in 2015 who wasn’t arrested until the fall of 2016 as part of a separate investigation.

Furthermore, concerns of the FBI having become a political tool remain as questions remain unanswered as to what involvement or advance knowledge the agency may or may not have had surrounding the breach of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Well I disagree. The FBI has already done the opposite with the aid of Pelosi. They disguised a demonstration as a riot which Im sure they contributed to.
So now we stop protestors before they even protest? Why then isn’t the FBI stopping baby killing supporters from showing up and breaking actual federal law when they protest in front of Justices’ homes?
I guess free speech is only for leftists now.

It’s already against Federal law to protest at the homes of Supreme Court justices yet Merrick Garland’s Justice Dept. nor the FBI have done anything for weeks or arrested anyone until an assassin called the police on himself and then they had to act! FBI definition of violence, destruction, interference with government functions, or trespassing on government property in a Pro-Life demonstrations where the demonstrators are standing on the sidewalk doing nothing. The demonstrators are breathing, so the FBI will physically restrain and arrest them.

Demonstrators are yelling obscenities and deadly threats, throwing objects, setting fires, destroying property, threatening children, etc., so the FBI will stand aside and arrest any person objecting to or defending themselves and/or property from attack and the MSM and the President will comment on how wonderful,it is that those groups are supporting their Constitutional right to demonstrate “peaceably.”
Let’s not forget the recent, very public arrest of Peter Navarro who was on his way to appear with Mike Huckaby. The FBI has become the SS branch of the Dimcratic Party.

Things will get better if they make the right decision and put abortion back into state hands, as they should. If violence doesn’t get somebody what he wants, he’ll eventually try something else (or give up). Things will get worse if the justices go the wrong way on this, whether or not the protests influenced their final decision. Because in that latter case, the protestors will become yet more brazen (is that possible anymore?), or at least more persistent, seeing it as proof their strategies worked. If they seem to give in, the rule of law will have yet another nail in its coffin in this spiraling country.
