Bill Maher agrees with Kellyanne Conway, rips NYT for burying Kavanaugh assassination attempt story

The lack of media coverage after a would-be assassin got cold feet after traveling from California to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh is yet another confirmation of the extreme bias of the leftist media, especially at The New York Times, and HBO’s Bill Maher called the paper out for downplaying a major story because it didn’t fit their leftist narrative.

On Friday’s edition of “Real Time With Bill Maher,” the host agreed with guest Kellyanne Conway’s criticism that the “newspaper of record” didn’t feature the shocking news of the attempted murder of a conservative member of the nation’s highest court on the front page, instead burying it on page 20, out of sight of casual readers.

“If this has been a liberal Supreme Court justice that someone came to kill, it would’ve been on the front page,” Maher said, “if it’s not part of something that feeds our narrative, f**k it, we bury it.”

In the terrifying example of how the incendiary rhetoric of Democrats and the media can drive unhinged members of the party’s base to act out violently, police arrested 26-year-old Nicholas John Roske, a Simi Valley man who was furious about the leaked SCOTUS draft suggesting that landmark abortion ruling Roe v. Wade could be overturned and allegedly sought to find purpose in his life by killing Kavanaugh.

Fortunately for the justice, his wife, two daughters, and the nation as a whole. Roske who had a gun, ammunition, a knife, burglary equipment and zip ties in his possession called 911 on himself, saying that he needed psychiatric help; he was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder.

“I will agree with you,” Maher told Conway, “to me it’s more of a case of media bias, yes if you hadn’t seen the story, somebody came to assassinate Brett Kavanaugh. I’m even with you on this one.”

“Okay, and they stopped him, okay, but he was, he’s from California, he could have been inspired by.. Chuck Schumer said some very inflammatory words,” he said, referring to the Democrat senator’s 2020 call for retaliation against conservative judges, singling out Kavanaugh by name, “the kind of thing that people on the right say and there’s a horrible shooting and they blame it.. it is rather comparable.”

“And Chuck Schumer did walk it back,” he said, in defense of the Senate Majority Leader. “Nobody on the right ever does that… he did. I saw this. He did. He said ‘we’re from Brooklyn, we speak too strongly.’ He said something about how… they were talking about, this guy was upset that Brett Kavanaugh is going to overturn Roe vs. Wade. Okay? And, interesting, upset that he wasn’t doing enough for gun control and shows up with guns to kill him.”

“So again, cuckoo people do cuckoo things, okay,” Maher added.  “The point is… I think your point and the point I would agree with is The New York Times buried this.”

Guest John Barro agreed, “Yeah, it was a tiny thing below the fold.”

“A-20,” Conway said, providing the NYT’s page placement of the story.

“If this had been a liberal Supreme Court justice that someone came to kill, it would’ve been on the front page,” Maher said to applause from his audience.

“And that’s what so disappointing about a paper like The New York Times. Because they wear their bias on their sleeves and if it’s not part of something that feeds our narrative, f**k it, we bury it.”

Conway also discussed the select committee on January 6th, 2021 which made its primetime debut on Thursday night with blanket network coverage other than from Fox News.

She weighed in on the prospect that her ex-boss, former President Donald J. Trump could be hauled in front of Nancy Pelosi’s Soviet-style show trial, something that leftists are salivating over.

“Guess what—they didn’t have the balls to call Trump,” she said. “They didn’t subpoena Donald Trump and they’re not going to.”

  3. Criticizing the NY Times is futile…efforts instead should be made to devise a way to deprogram the absolute ignoramuses that continue to read it when it’s so clear that all it is, is a propaganda rag.

  4. Of course they didn’t subpoena Trump. They are all afraid of him. They don’t want the public to hear the truth. Chicken shits

  5. Chuck Schumer walking back his comment by saying “we’re from Brooklyn, we speak too strongly” is not redeemable. Quite different from we serfs saying it. Schumer is in a position where he has a large public audience and where there are all kinds of loons listening to his words.
