Gun control activist David Hogg badly misfired on his latest publicity stunt, shooting himself in the foot over his quickly-debunked tweet that Senator Marco Rubio was too chicken to meet with him in person to discuss anti-Second Amendment measures in the aftermath of a bloody massacre at a Texas elementary school in which 21 people were murdered, 19 of them children.
The 22-year-old who rose to leftist stardom for his attacks on the National Rifle Association after a crazed gunman murdered 17 people at his own high school in Parkland, Florida, took to Twitter to claim that Rubio’s staff denied his request for a meeting but soon deleted his tweet which drew much engagement, including retweets and likes that only succeeded in bringing attention to what was a major fib on young Hogg’s part.
According to Hogg’s original tweet which he deleted, “Rubio staff said I can’t meet with him or his staff because I ‘trigger’ him. I just wanna have a conversation. Please meet with me @marcorubio I just want to figure out how we can stop these things from happening. We have to end the continuous debate and find what we can agree on.”

Hogg’s claim that Rubio’s staff declined a meeting because it would “trigger” the senator was rejected by Michael Needham who serves as Rubio’s chief of staff,
“No one said such a thing. As for the meeting, you must be confused as we had a 2p meeting scheduled with you. However, since you are lying and clearly using this all for self-promotion, that meeting is now cancelled,” he wrote on Twitter.

In a second tweet, Needham added, “Also, the reporter doing a profile of you knows the meeting is real since she was emailing yesterday with our comms team about it. Don’t lie again — we have receipts.”

After being busted for his latest fabrication, Hogg took to Twitter to apologize to Senator Rubio and to blame the mix-up on his “staff” as well as posting a copy of his original tweet for the sake of transparency.
“@marcorubio an honest mistake, got our meetings confused in the flurry and my staff misinformed me. I apologize. We’d still love to meet with you and have an honest, respectful discussion. Deleted the tweet bc it wasn’t true but attaching here for transparency,” tweeted the leftist gadfly.

Hogg – who last week led a protest outside of Rubio’s office – has quickly found out that when it comes to Florida politicians, the entrenched veteran lawmaker is a much different animal than Nikki Fried, the Sunshine State’s sitting agriculture commissioner, a snarky, ambitious former weed lobbyist who hopes to topple popular Republican Governor Ron DeSantis in November.
Fried chucked her very few principles out the window when, after initially declining to sign an anti-Second Amendment group’s petition, obediently flip-flopped after being given her orders from Boss Hogg.

Like so many other shameless opportunists, Hogg sees the slaughter of innocent children as a ladder to relevance but Marco Rubio isn’t playing that game.
