A cash-strapped central Michigan law enforcement agency is warning residents that it is running on empty when it comes to providing certain non-emergency aspects of its community facing services.
In a Facebook post presumably written by Isabella County Sheriff Michael Main, the lawman alerted his constituents on Tuesday that his office (like everyone else in America) “is feeling the pain at the pump,” which perhaps gives an alternative meaning to defunding the police.
With its county seat in the city of Mount Pleasant, Isabella County is located about 150 miles northwest of Detroit.
The sheriff’s social media message continued: “We have exhausted what funds were budgeted for fuel with several months to go before the budget reset. I have instructed the deputies to attempt to manage whatever calls are acceptable over the phone. These would be non-in-progress calls, non-life-threatening calls, and calls that do not require evidence collection or documentation.
“Deputies will continue to provide patrols to all areas of the county; they will respond to those calls that need to be managed in person,” the sheriff added on the lack of gas money. “Any call that is in progress with active suspects will involve a response by the deputies. I want to assure the community that safety is our primary goal, and we will continue to respond to those types of calls.”

In an additional clarification, the sheriff noted that “we are only going to try and handle calls by phone that are not in progress or require a deputy to respond.”
It remains to be seen how this policy will, as a practical matter, affect day-to-day operations in the county.
According to NBC Detroit affiliate WDIV, “Gas prices in Michigan were at an average of $5.21 per gallon statewide, as of June 8, with Isabella County around $5.18, both above the national average of $4.95 per gallon.”

Under President Donald Trump, the U.S. achieved self-sufficient energy independence, a scenario that was promptly reversed by successor Joe Biden and his handlers.
That policy change, along with the related federal spending spree under Biden and the Democrats, has caused a massive inflationary spiral that is being felt across all sectors of the economy, including in the price of fuel.
Other than perhaps begging overseas dictators for more oil imports, critics insist that it appears that the Biden administration has no plan to effectively address the energy crisis, other than finger-pointing and responsibility deflecting, as well as blaming the so-called Putin price hike on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In the meantime, Biden’s inner circle appears to be trying to bypass Congress as a way to implement Green New Deal-style measures at the behest of climate change zealots regardless of the real world, here-and-now ramifications from which the country is suffering.
#JoeBiden and the #Democrats have found another way to punish Americans, while allowing criminals to do as they please.

I am utterly and royally furious at that fool President for these “unintended” consequences” caused by destroying America’s energy independence for the ultimate blood sacrifice to his Green God. (At least I hope that this is not by intention). Wow. It has just now occurred to me that this “Climate Hero Now” plan affects more than just the cost of goods, but will affect critical elements of civilization- such as policing. I know how the cost of operating my car, using natural gas energy, and electricity in my home has pounded my budget flat, and I find it difficult to project grocery costs and every other thing one can think of. I live on a fixed income and I am not the only one. Many institutions and services operate on fixed budgets that are iron-clad and approved annually. In order to obtain more revenue, institutions such as the Police, Fire Department, and Schools would need voters to pass tax increases and businesses simply have to hike the prices of their goods and services. I am seriously concerned and increasingly livid. Thanks, Dems. Brandon has taken us for a ride.
Increasing the amount of crimes, while hampering law enforcement is just part of the dem`s “destroy America” agenda. God help us, but, these evildoers are succeeding….

The sheriff’s social media message continued: “We have exhausted what funds were budgeted for fuel…”
Well, just go out and buy a fleet of electric cars. Oh, wait, no money. Welcome to Biden’s world.
