As corporate media continues to perpetuate the notion that Republicans are racist, a new “shock poll” is making the rounds and proving once again that the left is only concerned with perpetuating headline-driven narratives devoid of context.
Following the shooting in Buffalo, N.Y. where an 18-year-old suspect murdered 10 people at a grocery store, YouGov conducted a poll of 1,000 U.S. adult citizens pertaining to “Replacement Theory.” It was a topic dominating the news cycle as leftwing talking heads and Democrats tried to pin the motivation for the suspect on conservatism despite his expressed allegiances to the contrary.
As part of the poll conducted between May 16-19, YouGov specifically asked respondents if they agree or disagree that “White people in this country are being replaced by non-white people.”
Of those samples, 58 percent of Republicans agreed with the notion when asked mere days after the shooting. In contrast 36 percent of Independents and 26 percent of Democrats shared the viewpoint that white people are being replaced. However, the details of the poll present a much more nuanced picture than aghast headlines would articulate.
A more sincere look at the concerns of Republican voters on the “Replacement Theory” poll was presented with the question of who “do you think that an increase in immigration to the U.S. would politically benefit,” where half of them said Democrats and even 37 percent of the left agreed. Of the total percentage of respondents, more than a third said it would favor the Democrats and only 6 percent thought it might benefit Republicans.
If any other facts were cherry-picked from the poll by the left to demonize Republican voters, it would be the higher percentage that suggested immigration from Central America, Mexico, Africa and the Middle East should be decreased when compared to the United Kingdom, Canada, Ukraine and the European Union. However, 53 percent of Republicans said there should be a decrease in immigration from Russia compared to 52 percent saying there should be a decrease from Central America, showing it has little to do with ethnicity and more to do with politics.
Also, 85 percent of Republicans said they are very or somewhat concerned that “native-born Americans are losing economic, political, and cultural influence…because of the growing population of immigrants.” Meanwhile, 55 percent of Republicans also agreed that “diversity is one of this country’s greatest strengths,” further suggesting that the true concern is not immigration, but illegal immigration.
Additionally, interracial marriage was perceived as neither a good thing nor a bad thing at 42% with less than a quarter of Republicans saying somewhat or very bad and slightly more holding a favorable opinion of it.
Corporate media continues to peddle the narrative that the right is promoting “Replacement Theory” and it was the motivation behind the suspect in Buffalo, but only 27 percent of Republicans said they were familiar with the idea compared to 48 percent of Democrats.
Similarly, 73 percent of Democrats said racism is a “big problem” in our society whereas two thirds of Republicans agreed it is a problem but only “somewhat” or “small,” and 70 percent of Republicans also said that discrimination against white people is as bad as it is against black people with 71 percent of Democrats expressing the opposite.
However, to truly see how concerted the effort is to paint Republicans as racists, the 60 questions asked of respondents that were left out of the reporting might be required.
