Drag queens perform at ‘Drag the Kids to Pride’ event, children also take the stage as parents protest outside

Dueling protests erupted outside a gay bar in Dallas on Saturday as the bar held an allegedly “family friendly” drag show for children on behalf of Pride Month.

Advertised as the “Drag The Kids to Pride” show, the performance featured drag artists “danc[ing] and walk[ing] down the aisle in the room” while “tak[ing] dollar bills from some of the children,” according to local station WFAA.

At times, the children also “walked with the dancers down the aisle during the event,” though it’s unclear if they too collected dollar bills.

As the show proceeded inside the gay bar, angry demonstrators, some of them parents, protested outside.

“I live in this community. I have for several years. I don’t believe that I should be seeing signs advertising for children to be dancing on stage with men in thongs and in inappropriate clothing and makeup. I do not in any way condone the behavior that these people are engaging in, but what drags me out here is its kids now,” one protester, Dasy, said to WFAA.

The protest was reportedly organized by a group called Protect Texas Kids.

“We decided to organize this protest when we saw advertising for the event a few weeks ago – we researched the bar and quickly found out that it’s a gay bar, and we were also pretty concerned when we saw the signage on the bar’s website that says “it’s not gonna lick itself,” the group said in a statement.

“The mission was to raise awareness that an event like this, a drag show for children, was happening right in Dallas. We also hoped that if we raised awareness, the event might be canceled or modified so that children couldn’t be present.”

Mr. Misster released its own statement claiming the show was “family friendly” and “safe.”

“We host our Champagne Drag Brunch every Saturday at 2pm for guests that are 21+ but we have partnered with some of our major community partners to host a special Pride Drag Brunch for all guests, including guests that couldn’t normally attend our regular show because of the drinking age restriction, to raise money for a local LGBTQ+ youth organization,” the statement reads.

“We are more than happy to open our doors to celebrate Pride in a family friendly, safe environment, separate from our normal operations of 2 p.m. – 2 a.m. on Saturdays because we believe that everyone should have a space to be able to celebrate who they are. Mr. Misster is a place where everyone is welcome to feel accepted, safe and included.”

In the statement, the bar also slammed the protesters, accusing them of “yelling homophobic threats, transphobic remarks and vile accusations at these children and parents.”

No mention was made in the statement of the far-left Pride activists who showed up to harass and allegedly assault the protesters, some of them parents, all as the police reportedly predictably sided with the Pride activists.

After the show, the protesters confronted one of the drag performers.

Meanwhile, one of the show attendees posted tweets admitting that, though they’d showed up in support of the event, they wound up finding it to be “weird” and upsetting for obvious reasons.

One of the drag show performers was later identified as an OnlyFans model. OnlyFans is a porn site that allows users to pay a monthly subscription fee for access to a model’s pornographic image/video library.
