TX Gov. Abbott ‘livid’ over being ‘misled’ about police response to school shooting

Texas Governor Greg Abbott reacted strongly over the admitted failure by law enforcement to quickly engage with the shooter during Tuesday’s bloody massacre of 19 children and their teachers at a Lone Star State elementary school, saying that he “is livid” and that he had been “misled” over the police response.

Initially, Abbott had praised the police for their quick action but as details emerged about the day’s events, it became clear that their reaction was anything but quick as officers waited for over an hour to breach the classroom while Salvadore Ramos continued to execute kids inside, mistakenly believing the gunman was barricaded inside.

Texas Department of Public Safety head Steven McCraw acknowledged that “It was the wrong decision,” at a Friday news conference.

At Governor Abbott’s own news conference in Uvalde where he answered questions about the carnage at Robb Elementary, he expressed his anger over being provided with inaccurate information at the time of the shooting.

“I was misled,” he said. “I am livid about what happened.”

“I was on this very stage two days ago, and I was telling the public information that had been told to me in a room just a few yards behind where we’re located right now,” he said, adding that, “I wrote down hand notes in detail about what everybody in that room told me in sequential order about what happened”

“And when I came out on that stage and told the public what happened, it was a recitation of what people in that room told me, whether it be law enforcement officials or non-law enforcement officials, whatever the case may be.” Abbott continued. “And as everybody has learned, the information that I was given turned out – in part – to be inaccurate.”

“And I am absolutely livid about that,” he emphasized.

“And here’s my expectation, my expectation is that the law enforcement leaders that are leading the investigations which includes the Texas Rangers and the FBI,” the governor continued, “they get to the bottom of every fact with absolute certainty. There are people who deserve answers the most and those are the families whose lives have been destroyed, they need answers that are accurate and it is inexcusable that they may have suffered from any inaccurate information whatsoever.”

“And it is imperative that the leaders of the investigations about exactly what happened, get down to the very seconds of exactly what happened with 100 percent accuracy and explain it to the public but most importantly, to the victims who’ve been devastated,” he said.

During his press conference,  Abbott talked about how state resources would be made available to the grieving families of the victims, prompting an ill-advised tweet from former NBA player and social media influencer Rex Chapman that he quickly deleted.

“Greg Abbott is sitting here at the press conference throwing millions and millions of dollars in state funds at the Uvalde victims, Jfc,” he tweeted. “Just pass gun control legislation! This is absurd,” in yet another sick example of how little regard that leftists have for the victims, it’s all about getting rid of the guns.

Abbott also announced that an anonymous donor has stepped forward with $175,000 to cover funeral expenses for the victims.

  1. On a side-note, will the Uvalde school district now find themselves having to repurpose that school room for other uses?

  2. These old bastards need to be run out of politics and put out to pasture ,

Fjbiden dementia AHole ,piglosi, are two of the stinking assholes still shuffling to be rambling on incoherently .

  3. I watched the news cast tv interview of the police speaking about the shootings after the slaughter.
I immediately picked up on the cop speaking , had a cocky ,nonchalant interview absorbing his 15 minutes of fame . Real visable, cocky attitude.
Then shut down all Questions.wrapping up the press conference. I truly , had real bad feelings about this .
It proved correct , when it came out these bastard cops sat back for 1 hr through
with the shooter walking around in the school killing children in cold blood on the school floors .
Mother’s pleading to them to do something , 1 women arrested tying to go into the school to save her children and one women was successful.
If it had been me ,I would have been like a Bear to get thru these bastards .
Finally ,the state police arrived and barraged the school ,
    Shooting the killer DEAD .
The police chief of Uvalde should be fired on the spot .
He had the guns ,the first response but choose to sit outside the school ,
FOR WHAT ? Was this a planned diversion for Mid Terms .?
    Think about it .
We’ll see if this ever comes out. , If ever .
