DeSantis’ Dem challenger throws so-called principles overboard after just one tweet from David Hogg

Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Nikki Fried took some heat from her liberal buddies this week for refusing to sign a pledge to ban “assault weapons.”

While she initially stuck to her guns in refusing to sign any pledge, she ultimately crumbled under the immense pressure of… a tweet from gun control zealot David Hogg.

The pledge in question was created by Ban Assault Weapons Now!, a group that very creatively uses the acronym BAWN for short, and has a self-proclaimed mission to be “committed to replacing NRA backed lawmakers with those who understand the need for gun safety reform.”

BAWN recently attempted to get all Florida gubernatorial candidates to sign their pledge which reads: “By signing below, I hereby pledge and affirm that if elected Governor of Florida, I will prioritize banning the sale and transfer of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines by encouraging Florida!s legislators to approve the bill and I will sign the legislation into law.”


The head of BAWN, Gail Schwartz, tweeted out the result of their efforts, which notably was missing Fried’s signature, prompting backlash from Florida Democrats on Twitter.


But she had a good reason for not signing the pledge. She simply doesn’t sign pledges.

And to emphasize just how important it is to her to not sign pledges and what a woman of principle she is, she reiterated her point with a second tweet to another group of upset Democrats.


Gun control activist David Hogg singled her out and demanded that she put pen to paper to sign the pledge.

“I don’t care sign the damn pledge,” he wrote.

And that is literally all it took. She signed.


Hogg responded with a “thank you” and the prayer hands emoji.

People on social media wasted no time in raking Fried over the coals for her quick about-face on signing the pledge.

  2. The Democrats coined the term “assault weapon” to describe guns that look scary to those who are completely ignorant of guns.

  4. Does it bother no one else that David Hogg’s father is an FBI agent, and that Hogg bears a remarkably uncanny resemblance to the Sandy Hook shooter, Adam Lanza, or in a much older version, Rachel Maddow?
    Are they making clones as operatives, raised and trained to do their bidding?
    Perhaps a bit tongue in cheek, but it is very strange and who knows what these globalists are capable of, as we already know there is nothing, they won’t do to achieve their goal of world domination!

      David hogg wasn’t even a student at that school, having graduated 2 years previously from Redondo Shores high school in Redondo Beach California.
      He is a paid crisis actor.

  5. First they aren’t assault rifles. The ignorance of the left is astounding. Second you fold like a cheap suit over a lying pos kid who from day one of being a supposed activist, used a shooting he wasn’t even present for, to scam money from the public. Coached I’m sure by his shameless parents. He hasn’t gotten any smarter either since high school. In fact he is still scamming people. A theme on the left, blm, criminal scammers, Hogg a scammer. Tried a business though and failed miserably. That’s what happens when you decide to do something just because you hate another person and think you can overtake their market share based on your hate, but you are clueless. Hogg should slither away to the work in a 7-11, that’s the extent of his brain power. Thank god in Florida they have DeSantis who won’t fold.

  6. I just wrote a lengthy response to your constant practice of allowing these job spam bots to take the place of real responses. Then the whole thing was erased by your site. Shame on your leadership for allowing this site to deteriorate to the level it has. Reserve the space for the actual responses and let the spammers go somewhere else.

  8. All these SPAM posts are terrible, they were gone for a few days, and now they are back in full. They are starting to overrun the comments!
    This site needs to do something about this. How about an algorithm that censors SPAM and not comments?

  10. I read an article that claims that Hogg was one of the first to run out of the building when the shooting started and yet he claims that he was there and how it traumatized him. The only time he is truly traumatized is when he isn’t the center of attention.

I live in Florida and I don’t think it really matters much if she signed the document because I feel quite confident that she is not going to become the Governor and don’t stand a chance of beating Governor DeSantis. So much for her standing on her principles as she proved she will go with how ever the wind blows.

    1. 30 year resident and as you know Fried started her campaign out by pointing out that Florida needs a vagina in the governor’s mansion
      Those are her words not mine
      Between her and chain gang Charlie there’s very little to offer
      But remember last election the crack addict almost beat DeSantis even though all the anti tax amendments passed by 2/3
      How do you get that close when almost 79% voted against more taxes
      This comment probably won’t get through but if it does I would certainly like to sit down and have a conversation with whoever got rid of the previous comment section and replaced it with this crappy one

  15. So a ban on assault weapons? Knifes, forks, baseball bats, ropes, cars, planes pretty general isn’t it. All above and many more could be considered assault weapons!
