The father of a teenager who died in the 2018 Parkland, Florida, school shooting says state governments haven’t learned “anything” from previous mass shootings and insists focusing “on just gun control” is to blame for the most recent massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
“Evidently they didn’t learn anything,” Andrew Pollack told Fox News Digital.
Citing a 2018 shooting at a school in Santa Fe, Texas, that resulted in 10 deaths, Pollack emphasized his point.
“They didn’t learn anything from what happened in Texas at that school shooting, they didn’t learn anything from what happened in Parkland at that shooting, they didn’t learn anything from what happened at Sandy Hook,” Pollack said. “When you focus on just gun control, this is what happens. It’s happened again.”
Pollack called for armed guards at every school, one point of entry into schools, and an improved system to deal with the level of mental illness many of the school shooters appear to share.
“I guarantee you, this kid didn’t just wake up one day and say, ‘I want to kill my grandma,'” Pollack said. “There had to be red flags that went off, and it’s a big problem.”

Pollack does support background checks and so-called “Red Flag” measures, stating that “mentally sick” and “evil” minors need to be identified by local school districts and governments and the designation needs to be put “on their backgrounds so they can’t purchase a rifle.”
According to multiple reports, Salvador Ramos, the 18-year-old who shot 19 elementary school children and two teachers on Tuesday, exhibited plenty of warning signs before embarking on his rampage.
As American Wire News reported, Ramos was allegedly a loner whose fights with his drug-abusing mother often ended with the police being called. Prior to purchasing the rifles and posting pictures of them online, Ramos, who stopped attending high school, would reportedly roam the streets and shoot random people with a BB gun.
That Ramos was able to legally purchase two rifles and 375 rounds of ammunition on his 18th birthday is now being used by Democrats to aggressively call for even stricter gun control measures.
In what many are calling a staged event for purely campaign purposes, Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke interrupted a Wednesday press conference from Governor Greg Abbott to accuse Abbott of “doing nothing” to prevent “totally predictable” shootings.

While O’Rourke was blasted for his self-serving stunt, it shows the lengths liberals are willing to go to ensure every ounce of this crisis is effectively squeezed for their agendas.
But according to Pollack, blaming guns isn’t the solution.
“There’s gun laws in place, there’s so many gun laws in place,” he said. “If they don’t have a background, not one gun law is going to make a difference.”
“You can’t focus on guns,” Pollack stated. “Nothing gets done.”
