Wild security footage shows a violent exchange between employees of the Princess Bride Diamonds store at the Bella Terra mall in Huntington Beach, California, and at least four hammer-wielding, masked assailants with backpacks bent on conducting a smash-and-grab robbery.
The attempted robbery occurred at approximately noon on Sunday. The Baca family has owned the jewelry store for several years and both the son and daughter were working there at the time of the attack.
KTLA-TV provided a video showing the employees punching and kicking the stuffing out of the attackers who got a whole lot more than they bargained for during the incident.
The brother, Dallas Baca, ran out from the backroom, and punched one of the attackers in the face, doubling the thief over and knocking him off his feet.
This breaks my heart: I got my engagement ring from them. They are a super nice family, with both the daughter and son and mom helping us out. Genuinely kind people. I’m so glad to see them fight back, but to see this at Bella Terra blows me away

That dude shoved the guy into the wall, clocked him in the side of the head, saw the other guy coming at him with the hammer and blocked it with his arms all in like a second.

An employee named Lily Ochoa working the counter came out from around the shattered display case and shoved another robber before repeatedly kicking a world of hurt into the downed thug.
Two other store employees attacked another robber, punching him and sending the thief fleeing from the store.
The sister hit an assailant over the head with a chair.
“I was just looking for something big and heavy to like hit them with and the stool was just right there, so I just ran up grabbed the stool, and hit the guy over the head with the stool as hard as I could,” Sarah Baca told NBC News.
“I’m just glad everyone’s OK. I’m glad that our team banded together and we were able to put up a fight and stop what was happening,” she declared.
“It’s our family store. It’s our family business and livelihood,” Sarah said. “We felt like the right to protect it.”
Holy shit! That was amazing!

“We had an idea that it could happen, but it’s always different when it actually does happen,” commented Dallas Baca who was reportedly hit with one of the hammers by an attacker during the shockingly violent altercation.
“At some point, while I was fighting them, one of them actually hit me in the head with a hammer, on the side of my left temple, but I didn’t even register it until after they left because there was so much like adrenaline going on,” Baca added.
The thieves got away with about $7,700 in jewelry according to Huntington Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Carey. It could have been a whole lot worse but the robbers apparently fled the physical onslaught by the workers figuring it wasn’t worth it.
UPDATE: The victim, Princess Bride Diamonds, has reported a loss of approximately $7,700 in jewelry as a result of the smash & grab incident.

Others who work at the mall cheered the employees for fighting back.
“We were kind of freaking out. Everybody was scrambling around, so I just told everybody to come in our shop,” Kyle Sary, who works at a nearby surf shop, recounted to Fox News. “I guess they walked in the store, broke some things but the family fought them off, so good for them, right?”
“It’s cool to see them fight back. That was awesome!” David Clark told CBS News, Los Angeles, in an interview. He bought an engagement ring for his fiancée Audrey Tate at the store.
“We live across the way and David got our engagement ring from here so we care a lot about the staff,” Tate stated. “We’re just sad to see what happened.”
The search is still ongoing for the four suspects according to police.
