Pelosi gets communion despite ban, DC archdiocese sends embarrassing email to press by accident

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) took Holy Communion in Washington, D.C. on Sunday as the Roman Catholic Archdiocese slipped up and emailed a reporter a blunt response concerning her ban in California, noting that media requests “will be ignored.”

According to Politico’s Playbook newsletter, Pelosi received Holy Communion on May 22 during Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington, D.C., seeking comment on Pelosi’s Holy Communion ban by San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone due to her advocacy for abortion. The media outlet received an email in response telling them that media requests would not be answered on the subject.

“Just sharing for you to know what comes in,” the email said in reply to the inquiry. “Email since Saturday, when I last checked the comms inbox has just been a couple of random people wanting to tell the Cardinal to bring down the hammer on Pelosi. Aside from Jack Jenkins at RNS, this is the only new media inquiry. It will be ignored, too.”

A spokesperson for the D.C. Archdiocese apologized and told the Examiner that the email had been sent to them by mistake.

“I apologize for the mistaken email,” spokeswoman Patricia Zapor wrote. “We have not been responding to inquiries on this topic because Cardinal [Wilton] Gregory’s position has not changed from what he has said in the past.”

“Cardinal Gregory has no new comment about the issue of Catholic politicians receiving Communion,” a follow-up email to the Examiner noted. “The actions of Archbishop Cordileone are his decision to make in the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Cardinal Gregory has not instructed the priests of The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington to refuse Communion to anyone.”

Gregory avoided addressing the issue of whether pro-abortion politicians should receive Communion during an interview he gave to Crux Now in Sept. 2021. At the time, he asserted that bishops are “not there as police, we’re there as pastors, and as pastors, we certainly have to teach the faith of the Church, we have to be true to the Church’s heritage of faith, but we also have to bring people along with us. It is not simply a matter of pointing out their errors.” Since then he has refused to comment publicly on the issue.

San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone announced on Friday that Pelosi would be banned from receiving Holy Communion over her abortion stance. He said his actions had “nothing to do with” the leak of a draft opinion from the Supreme Court indicating it is on the brink of overturning the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade. He stated that it had to do with Pelosi’s “advocacy for codifying the Roe decision into federal law — it’s becoming more and more extreme and more and more aggressive.”

“After numerous attempts to speak with her to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, and the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that the point has come in which I must make a public declaration that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion unless and until she publicly repudiates her support for abortion ‘rights’ and confesses and receives absolution for her cooperation in this evil in the sacrament of Penance,” Cordileone wrote in the letter announcing Pelosi’s ban.

Cordileone claims that he is following the advice of Pope Benedict XVI on abortion.

“He gave us advice on how to approach this, specifically with politicians, Catholic politicians, and specifically on the two issues of abortion and euthanasia,” Cordileone remarked. “He said we need to meet, to dialogue, to try to move them down the path of conversion. And if after several attempts it comes to the point where it’s clear [that] this is not going to happen, then the bishop or the pastor, [Ratzinger] says, is to declare that the person is not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”

“If she’s not to be admitted to Holy Communion, our priests and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, all those who are Communion ministers need to know that,” the archbishop said referring to Pelosi’s ban.

Bishops from California, Colorado, Illinois, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin have joined Cordileone in support of Pelosi’s ban.

Archbishop Samuel Aquila of Colorado called Cordileone’s decision “courageous, compassionate, and necessary.”

The San Francisco Examiner’s editorial board has requested that Pope Francis remove Cordileone from his position for banning Pelosi from Communion. The editorial board slammed him for “punishing” Pelosi, instead of “right-wing politicians” who “[vote] against health care or funding for the poor,” according to Fox News.

“Cordileone’s chief loyalty is not to Christ, but to the cabal of far-right American bishops led by Raymond Leo Burke, a Catholic prelate who has led a continual campaign to undermine Pope Francis’ authority,” the board wrote. They then arrogantly demanded that the Pope remove the “radical conservative” from San Francisco.

  1. Cardinal Gregory is a bad Catholic sodomite. By enabling the Lord to be profaned he will join Pelosi in perdition. He has misled those he has been charged with leading to Heaven. Instead he leads them into the fire.

  2. Pelosi is running afoul of the RCC’s Magisterium. Without contriteness in the confessional, she is putting her soul in danger. The sacraments are NOT a “right,” they are a privilege . It disgusts me that this purveyor of lies and defiance can defy her EXCOMUNICATION. The Cordelione was doing his job. The lack of support from the archbishop of DC is telling. The Church was either bought off or threatened. An excommunication doesn’t look good. Very bad optics for herself. If she doesn’t agree with the teachings of the RCC, she can go elsewhere. I am no longer a practicing Catholic, but I’m quite defensive of it. Pelosi is an awful person, a rotten human being. One can have two “logs” in each eye and see clearly that she and her peers are evil.

    1. The church is a hospital for sinners…or should be. Unfortunately, at least one third of Bishops are corrupt and among those who were intentionally placed in seminaries back in the 1930’s-1960’s with the aim to destroy the church from within. A very many are active sodomites. The Lord warned us of this. He is still in control. The goats are being separated from the sheep.

      1. You should read your bible more. Not only did Paul have someone expelled from he church in corinth for sin to ‘hand him over to satan’ but promotes that this is whats to be done on a regular basis. We have nothing to do with the immoral brother. we ‘dont even eat with the likes of these’ if you want to bring the bible into it. its one thing to preach christ its another to let wolfs into the congregation who openly come against the lord. we have had this issue with homosexual sin as well. both romans and timothy come against that but its openly celebrated in many churches now. its the apostasy. we now have wolfs even leading the congregations openly rebelling against god and promoting those that sin.
Its just people are so sensitive out of fear now they disobey how the church should conduct itself according to the bible. the priests involved by going ahead with this should be punished as well. even the pope himself erred in this.

  3. Thank You Cardinal Gregory for helping me make up my mind on Leaving the Catholic Church, have been praying on this matter for a few years now, Now You have given me That Reason.

    1. By that “logic”, is Joe Biden’s Presidency a good reason for you to leave the USA?

      1. The Church was either bribed or threatened or both. That this rotten, horrible woman is getting her way, poo-pooing her excommunication and giving the finger to the Roman Magisterium is disgusting. If she feels so strongly about egregious abortions, she can join the fallen Episcopal Church, or any Protestant infected by Wokness.

    2. The Lord warned us not to leave the Church as those apostates will be lost. Only the “Faithful Remnant” will remain to be saved.

  4. Just like so many so called christian religions there are always people that do not follow the basic principles of true christianity. These preachers, priest or whatever they call themselves will answer to GOD. All human beings will answer to GOD for their own actions so people need not get it twisted. Heb. 9:27 27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,  28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

  5. That’s why I say we have no hope for change except by force. This country has been taken over by corrupt politicians for over 45 years. Everyone one that in government from the past 45 years has baggage. They all need to be put on trial and investigated.i do home work …..https://www.workbz.com

  6. They say they don’t police, but they DO. They police which ordinations can GIVE communion, and Protestants are often kindly asked to NOT take it at a Catholic mass. So, they can just as easily not provide the elements to a banned recognizable member.

  7. If this Archbishop wants to be taken seriously he must excommunicate the entire Pelosi and Biden families as well as the priest who also openly defied him.

  8. This just proves how the elite, like “devout” Nancy Pelosi, think they are above the rules and do whatever THEY want. All while saying “No one is above the law”. They expect us “common folk” to follow rules and laws, but they consider themselves special, and “better” than us, and ignore such things. If hypocrite Pelosi manages to get through the Pearly Gates of Heaven, she’ll be running the place within a week. Heavenly Father, please remind her that she’s no better than ANY of your flock….Amen!

  9. So, do I pray to the San Francisco Examiner for salvation? The Examiner is the arbiter of fairness and all things Christian? So, murdering babies is ok, even after they are 2 years old, if they are inconvenient. This is considered a health issue? People can invade the USA, immediately assume a name and get a fake Social Security Number and apply for Citizens’ benefits and this is due to compassion? No, Liberalism is liberal with other people’s money. Starting with illegally crossing our border, then stealing a document, stealing a job, lying about everything and then calling for Christian Charity. Sorry, I don’t see suborning sin as an act of Charity. Doing it by stealing other people’s money to do it is not charity either. Only if it comes from your heart and pocket. If it comes from others’, it is theft.

  10. At the risk of seeming heretical, if Pelousy is going to the rail, she’s not taking holy communion, she’s indulging in ritual cannibalism.

    1. If she’s going to the rail, she’s committing a sacrilege, as Saint Paul said (1 Corinthians 11.27-30). For she knows what she’s doing vis-à-vis abortion is gravely wrong.

  11. The San Francisco Examiner’s editorial board has no influence on the Catholic Church’s actions.

  12. Wilton Gregory has been a Leftist apologist for decades. He has always, (and I do mean always) lined up nicely with Pelosi and her pro abortion cabal. He does also appear to be a bit of a coward hiding from those asking for clarification from him. Courage is apparently not in his quiver.

  13. After 50 years of trying to “reason” with Catholic political leaders over abortion, it’s far past time to put some teeth in their teachings. Sad to see how many priests, bishops, archbishops, cardinals and popes have been willing to look the other way over the killing of the innocent.

    1. There is no way to stop political leaders from pretending they’re Catholic. By their fruits you will know them.

  14. Does the catholic church not have the backbone to stand up for their convictions or the ability to stand against Pelosi/Biden? Either way they’ve burned their bridges with tons of believer.

    1. It’s not the Catholic Church, but just some members acting or not acting.
      Please learn the difference.

  15. The Catholic church is a beast religion. What they choose to do with the beast that is Nancy Pelosi, or any of the other beasts* in that religion, is irrelevant.

*Not all Catholics are beasts. Some of them are good hearted people who NEED to leave that beast system. About them I am not commenting here.

    1. You may not be a member of a “beast religion” but you seem to be a member of a “beast system”.

    2. It’s that “beast religion” without which you wouldn’t have the Scriptures you used to invent that insult. Let that sink in, since a lot of people I talk to about this point refuse to do so…

  16. Allowing sacrilege to people just because they are a politician is a sacrilege! These politicians are bottom line public servants doing a job for the people. They are NOT Royalty, NOT Kings and Queens, even though they would have you believe it so. We got rid of ROYALTY in 1776, did we not? They deserve no more privileges than any other employee. They should be hired and fired just like any other employee. This nonsense has got to stop!!!
    .

  17. In 2003 Pope Francis excommunicated the mafia. Pelosi is mafia to the core. The catholic church has never been anything but an evil menace all throughout its existence. It lies about everything and covers for the perverted and criminals. If Christ was around he would tear down every catholic church.

    1. The Church that built Europe is nothing but a menace? The one that built the first universities, drained swamps to raise up hospitals, helped abolish slavery (which came back during the Renaissance and “Enlightenment” Era, after she started losing her authority), is just an evil menace? You don’t know anything.

  18. Who are those “throwing stones”? All Christians are practicing, only one got it right! Judge not lest ye be judged! Politics is not part of religion, but religion can be part of Politics, on a personal, individual level. One’s faith is not a public subject unless that individual makes it public. The first to question a person’s faith are generally agnostics and atheists (devoid of spiritual faith). If they’re right, no harm done, but if I’m right, I would not trade place!

    1. I don’t know about that. In Matthew 23, Jesus was pretty clear about how we should respond to hyporcrisy. The Catholic church is the modern-day pit of vipers…

Matthew 23: 13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
17 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
20 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.
21 And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.
22 And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.
26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.
28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,
30 And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?
34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

      1. That you can’t tell the difference between a good fish and a bad one does everything necessary to ruin your broad-brushed painting of the Church I joined almost five years ago.

    2. “So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord” (1 Corinthians 11:27, NLT). The phrase in an unworthy manner could refer, in general, to harboring unconfessed sin while participating in the Lord’s Supper. Confession of sin is a beneficial practice to prepare one’s heart for worship; in fact, we are told to “examine” ourselves before we partake of communion (verse 28). Those who selfishly promoted divisions in the church were guilty of a serious offense. They were dishonoring the very purpose of communion, which is to honor and remember the Lord’s work of salvation on the cross.

  19. Well the Democratic Party has succeeded in dividing even Arch Bishops. They must be proud.

  20. Pelosi and A LOT of catholic priests, cardinals AND POPES will all be going to HELL due to this blatant disregard for the Commandment, THOU SHALL NOT KILL!

  21. Nutsi Peloser might as well have a cocktail with regards to communion anywhere. She ;has NO IDEA what a true Christian is and it is SO APPARENT by her lying, her misuse of her power and her extreme wealth all ill-gotten. She will be told by God on Judgment Day.

    • I guess, if she confesses to her sin of promoting abortion she is absolved to go for communion until her next time sinning. And round and round we go. One of her technicalities.
    1. Not really. Because there’s quite clearly no sincerity here. You can’t support something, “confess” that sin, and then continue supporting it. The sin lies in supporting it in this context, and thus, as long as you support it, you’re committing that sin.

  22. I am a cradle to grave, womb to tomb Catholic, and I am devastated and disappointed at the Catholic Church, and their preferential treatment of “entitled” politicians. It is no wonder then that the Catholic Church is losing its followers. I suppose there is a different Holy Book and a Book of Privilege for dyed in the wool Catholics like Pelosi, Durbin and Biden.

  23. This is not an unusual phenomena. There have always been those in the Church that rebel against God. Even i Jesus’ time this was true. And when God sent His prophets to them before Jesus they rebeled against Him then, too.

Today we find those in the body of the Church that rebel against God. And that is not just the Catholic church.

    1. I have been a conservative Catholic all my life and I disdain Pelosi for her HYPOCRITICAL stance on killing babies for ANY reason from conception to birth. That said, I do not believe GOD/JESUS would be happy when ANYONE is turned away from receiving Holy Communion. Why? Because Jesus (at the Last Supper when he declared the bread and wine as his body and blood) did NOT refuse Judas (who betrayed him) to partake in this last supper. Communion is open to ALL OF US as we are ALL SINNERS and GOD knew this better than we apparently do. Who is the Church and Communion FOR if not for the imperfect? And GOD knows Pelosi is about as IMPERFECT AND SINFUL AS ANYONE. The selfishness involved in killing DEFENSELESS babies is a MAJOR sin and one that GOD CRIES for,but turning away anyone was something GOD and Jesus wouldn’t do.

      1. Jesus died for our sins so that we might be saved by repenting and changing our evil ways NOT so we could continually be absolved and continue to repeat our sins over and over again

        1. Yeah. I think that’s what confuses a lot of people People hear “Jesus died for our sins” so they think it;s OK to sin, they’re already forgiven, when that’s NOT what it means! He died so that if we repent for our sins we can enter Heaven, the Gates have been opened for us!

  24. The Catholic Church and Pope have NO honor, integrity or principles. If the did – they would have EX-COMMUNICATED Pelosi, Biden and all the other-election time Catholics-decades ago for their support of abortion-they have the blood of 60 million unborn on their hands, and should be publicly shamed.

  25. Much like this affirmative action bishop ignores the silent screams of murdered babies that he now ignores and enables.

  26. The Catholic hierarchy that allows this should be getting an assist from the abortionist sucking the life out of the babies they are murdering. They in reality are no better than the monsters that perform the atrocity.

  27. Being itself on thin ice, The Catholic Church needs to get it’s ducks in a row,
IMMEDIATELY! With plenty of stories of priests molesting boys AND girls,
whether they are true or not, and other incidents you would think they would all
be aware of the scrutiny the Church is under. Surely, the moral authority
of the institution becomes suspect with public dissension from within.

  28. Nancy Pelosi answers to no one, and will do as she pleases. She’ll deal with God later when she has time.

    1. We “good guys” have no right to judge other souls or speak that way. You should know that.

        1. Not the kind to decide who will finally end up there, though. Because we don’t know who the Spirit will move to repentance, and who will be left where he is.

  29. As usual this POS subhuman believes she got away with something. As usual she defies God and sets herself above His earthly and Heavenly authority. The same is true of the priest who goes against these authorities and he and the subhuman will meet the same fate.

    1. Now we need Xiden’s Archbishop to do his duty and deny the squinty-eyed monster Communion.

  30. If the Roman Catholic GOD cares about the Sanctity of life, why did that god chose a reproductive system that makes miscarriages a very common occurrence? Sources vary, but many estimate that approximately 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage; and some estimates are as high as 1 in 3. If you include loss that occurs before a positive pregnancy test, some estimate that 40% of all conceptions result in loss. Unusual system choice if god supposedly ‘cares’ about each outcome.

    1. Lest we forget, all of mankind’s maladies are direct consequences of human actions taken. Our heavenly father is not the designer of a flawed reproductive system.

    2. As always you are ignoring the inherent sin that is in this world through mankind. This sin has it’s penalty and consequence. You can avoid the penalty of eternal death or death of your soul by repenting of that sin and accepting what Jesus has done for you on the cross by sacrificing His life for your sin. That is what a Christian is. But even as a Christian you cannot sometimes escape the consequences of sin in this world. That sin brings death. And is the reason people both good and evil; guilty and innocent die.

    3. The Garden of Eden was the only perfect place. This side of eternity, we’ll not have all the answers, but maybe Eve never had a miscarriage nor a menstrual cycle. When God gave us free choice, we messed things up. We eat things we shouldn’t. We inject things in our bodies we shouldn’t. We subject our bodies to physical challenges we shouldn’t. Perhaps our freedom of choice causes miscarriages outside God’s will for our lives. I’m guessing He sheds a tear for every miscarriage and abortion.

      1. We HAVE to have free will or we’d all be robots!!
And of Eve had Cain and Abel of course she had menstrual cycles, it was part of her punishment, remember?

    4. It may well turn out to have been a rather merciful decision on the Creator’s part to allow such apparent flaws. If only because those souls are fortunate enough not to wander through this vale of tears, or risk hell-fire like so many of us who survived to this point. Should the Maker let me in, I should like to ask your question for you.

  31. I wonder how much money Nancy “donates” to this priest for the public privilege of taking communion? I bet he has great vacations, a Rolex and silk underwear.

  32. Truth be told…..Pelosi believes she should be administering communion.

  33. The priest giving her communion and Pelosi are committing a sacrilege. It’s a mortal sin, but being a sacrilege is even worse.

The church has been infiltrated with Modernists who are following the world instead of Christ, and it’s not just the Catholic Church where this is happening.

    1. Hopefully the Archdiocese will remove him soon.
Thankfully this has not happened in the Lutheran Churches! I say this as a proud Lutheran.

      1. There are Lutheran churches where this is a problem. Don’t stick your head in the sand.

  34. You may fool the people if you like
    BUT you cannot Fool GOD
both will be deem on their judgement day, do not be fooled…
    cannot serve two masters
    Mammon or GOD?
your pick in the journey as one approaches the forked road

  35. Gregory is known as the “African Queen” due to his proclivities with men. He is a strand of the smoke of Satan that embedded into the Church. His Gates of Hell will not prevail.

  36. As one raised as a catholic I was taught that receiving communion was sacred. It now appears that it is no big deal which means the catholic church is no big deal. All the church hocus pocus is a farce!!

      1. NO!!!!!! THE LUTHERAN CHIRCH IS NOT!!! THE LUTHERANS ARE NOT!!! NOT ALL CHRISTAINS ARE CATHOLIC YA KNOW!!! THE LUTHERANS ARE THE REAL THING!!

  37. She’s an arrogant, blatant hypocrite who has no place in the Catholic church.

  38. And so if I’m looking for a new religion or church, and I’m only looking because I can do whatever I want and still be a member in good standing then I should become a Catholic? Hmm. What about over the years this religious group preached to us about the Sanctity of life, so has that gone. By the wayside and God no long cares about life, especially when it comes to unborn babies?

  39. It doesn’t matter what nancy pelosi says or does. It’s all for appearance sake. At the end of the day, she still dances with the devil. Everything else is just part of the dog and pony show put on to deceive us into believing she’s something she’s not.
