After media screamed at GOP for ‘Jim Crow’ voter ID law, black early voting in Georgia hits record highs

Looks like it’s time for mainstream media outlets to eat crow—”Jim Crow,” that is.

After telling everyone who would listen that Georgia’s Election Integrity Act, passed by the state’s Republican legislature, was the next iteration of Jim Crow laws, the entire left-wing media-industrial complex had a collective freakout.

But Georgia’s turnout for early voting is smashing all previous records—ample evidence that the Election Integrity Act has if anything, increased voter participation.

It’s an interesting contrast with the excessive hyperventilating by Democrats over the Georgia law, known as SB 202, that was plastered across the headlines last year. As just one example, President Joe Biden famously described the law as a “blatant attack on the Constitution and good conscience,” and a “Jim Crow in the 21st century.” In fact, he even said the laws would make Jim Crow look like “Jim Eagle,” whatever that means.

And in an ostentatious display of perfunctory “wokery,” Major League Baseball moved its 2021 All-Star Game out of Atlanta to protest the new law, a move that was supported by Biden. At the time, Biden also used the controversy to push for the passage of a host of new federal voting laws, such as the “For the People Act” and the “John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act,” none of which came to pass.

Last year, Democrats and liberal media outlets howled that the law would obstruct minority Americans from being able to vote, and would call into question the outcome of any elections in the Peach State.

But even The Washington Post was forced to concede the obvious with the headline of a recent article: “Voting is surging in Georgia despite controversial new election law.” In the article, the Post interviewed a 70-year-old black woman who voiced her surprise at how easy it was to vote.

“I had heard that they were going to try to deter us in any way possible because of the fact that we didn’t go Republican on the last election, when Trump didn’t win,” she said. “To go in there and vote as easily as I did and to be treated with the respect that I knew I deserved as an American citizen—I was really thrown back.”

Interesting—”to be treated with the respect that I knew I deserved as an American citizen.” That’s something that would throw anyone back these days.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger was ecstatic at the opportunity to finally throw the left-wing media’s words in their faces.

“Major media outlets joined Stacey Abrams and Joe Biden in saying Georgia’s Election Integrity Act was ‘Jim Crow’ and would suppress voting,” he told Fox News. “In fact, SB 202 made common sense reforms that will help ensure confidence in Georgia’s elections. The fact that we are seeing record early vote turnout, including record minority turnout, proves that the Abrams/Biden narrative was always completely false.”

According to Raffensperger’s office, as of Friday, there were nearly 800,000 ballots cast, which is three times the amount in 2018 and quite a bit higher than even the presidential election year of 2020.

There’s a surfeit of evidence to show how wrong the liberal media was about this issue—not that we can expect them to issue any apologies anytime soon.

“Jim Crow in a suit and tie,” read a hysterical Vanity Fair headline last year. Jim Crow was a favorite talking point.

“It’s old school American, it’s Jim Crow American,” MSNBC’s Joy Reid announced, claiming hyperbolically that the law represented the “end of democracy” in America and the first stages of a 21st-century apartheid.

“It’s voter suppression, it’s the new Jim Crow,” CNN’s Don Lemon explained.

Tell that to the 800,000 who have so far cast their votes in a mere primary, and were unexpectedly treated with respect as American citizens in a voting system that might finally be restoring their confidence in elections.

  1. Black people need to be reminded that “Jim Crow” was Democrat law. The Republicans fought it.

  2. The Communist Democrats in government and the media are against this law because of counting all the votes, it only counts all the legal votes! Without the Cemeteries and illegals, the Democrats have barely a snow ball’s chance in Hell of winning!

  3. Someone PLEASE remind the media that DEMOCRATS gave us “Jim Crow”……NOT the Republicans!

  4. The lie spawned by Stacy Abrams. Fact is that GA made it easier to vote but harder to cheat.

  5. Of course, they just love being negative and spew lies but they get their way anyway

  6. wow, suddenly black and brown people learned how to get an i.d. the dems didn’t know it was possible.

  7. So if the democrats win, the GOP can say “See? It wasn’t Jim Crow!” Way to go GOP! LoL
