CNN’s Jim Sciutto goes to bat for Nancy Pelosi after SF archbishop bars her from Holy Communion

CNN anchors have a habit of embarrassing themselves on social media and self-described altar boy Jim Sciuttocan be added to the list.

The chief national security correspondent on the network and former Obama administration official took to Twitter in an apparent attempt to be U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s chief apologist after an official with the Catholic Church banned the Democrat leader from a sacred rite.

Sciutto claimed the sanction is unprecedented.

On Friday, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone announced on Twitter, “After numerous attempts to speak with Speaker Pelosi to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing…the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion.”

The post linked to a lengthy “letter to the faithful” from the archbishop wherein he explained that the decisions resulted from Pelosi’s extreme pro-abortion activism.

“Speaker Pelosi remains our sister in Christ.  Her advocacy for the care of the poor and vulnerable elicits my admiration.  I assure you that my action here is purely pastoral, not political,” the archbishop noted, however, about the politician who apparently doesn’t return his phone calls.

According to the liberal San Francisco Chronicle, the notification constitutes “an escalation of his feud with the Catholic Democrat over abortion politics.”

“Pope Francis, who is head of the Catholic Church, has previously urged bishops to tread softly on the issue of denying people the Eucharist—which Catholics consider the body of Jesus Christ—and advised the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops against adopting a policy that would have denied communion to President Joe Biden,” Newsweek reported on Saturday.

In October 2019, Biden was denied communion at a South Carolina church because of his abortion-rights support.

Summarizing his religious resume, Sciutto rushed to Pelosi’s defense.

“[Twelve] years of Catholic school, altar boy, family deeply involved in our church, and never saw anyone banned from receiving communion. This is a deep fissure in the church – and a position Pope Francis himself doesn’t support,” the Ivy League (of course) graduate explained on Twitter.

The abortion debate has reemerged on the national stage after the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization authored by Justice Samuel Alito that could strike down the 1973 landmark Roe v. Wade decision.

If Alito’s decision is ever finalized and ratified by a majority on the high court, the abortion-rights issue would return to the states to regulate individually.

Many Americans are conflicted about the extremely sensitive and morally complex issue. Religious faith (including the degree to which individuals abide by various practices) is also a fundamentally personal issue.

According to a recent New York Post editorial, “the fact is that most of Americans are neither completely pro-life nor totally pro-choice, but a mix of both.”

“Recent Fox News polling shows that over half of Americans believe that abortion should be prohibited after 15 weeks of pregnancy,” FNC claimed earlier this month.

The Mississippi state law that is in dispute in Dobbs would ban most abortions after 15 weeks. The court has an option of limiting its decision to Dobbs without going any further, which presumably is Chief Justice Roberts’ preference.

In the 1992 presidential election, Bill Clinton expressed the view that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare,” but contemporary Democrats appear to have entirely abandoned the concept that the pregnancy-termination procedure should occur infrequently.

According to the liberal Daily Beast news outlet, Democrats dropped the rare proviso from their platform at the 2012 national convention.

Apart from the Sciutto cheering section which is extensive, other Twitter users are insinuating that the newsman’s analysis of the Eucharist embargo is inauthentic:

  1. Not only did Paul have someone expelled from the church in corinth for sin to ‘hand him over to satan’ but promotes that this is whats to be done on a regular basis. We have nothing to do with the immoral brother. we ‘dont even eat with the likes of these’ if you want to bring the bible into it. its one thing to preach christ its another to let wolfs into the congregation who openly come against the lord. we have had this issue with homosexual sin as well. both romans and timothy come against that but its openly celebrated in many churches now. its the apostasy. we now have wolfs even leading the congregations openly rebelling against god and promoting those that sin.
Its just people are so sensitive out of fear now they disobey how the church should conduct itself according to the bible. the priests involved by going ahead with this should be punished as well. even the pope himself erred in this.

  2. He is the only person of honor in the whole Catholic Church – If the church, and this Pope, stood for anything, any principles, honor or integrity- they would have Ex-Communicated Pelosi and Biden- and all the other phony-election time Democrats- for their support of abortion on demand with no limitations. Instead they give them private audience and photo ops at the Vatican. Shame on them all for not standing up

  3. No one who is in state of mortal sin should receive communion. A Bishop doesn’t need to tell us. All faithful Catholics know this and examine their consciences before presenting themselves to receive the Lord. To profane the Body and Blood of The Lord condemns us to Hell. Pelosi has had so many sacrilegious communions that there is special place in the fire for her and for Biden and all public figures who disregard the Lord’s commands. You would think both Pelosi and Biden would be thinking about this as they are both very close to their judgement day.

  4. Google pay 97$ per hour my last pay check was $8500 working 1o hours a week online. My younger brother friend has been averaging 12k for months now and he works about 22 hours a week. I cant believe how easy it was once I tried it outit..
    :) AND GOOD LUCK.:)

  5. I make more then $12,000 a month online. It’s enough to comfortably replace my old jobs income, especially considering I only work about 11 to 12 hours a week from home. I was amazed how easy it was after I tried it…

    GOOD LUCK.. http://www.LiveJob247.com

  6. I’m making over $17k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true.

    This is where i started… http://Www.NetCash1.Com

  7. Nice to see the whole Catholic Church hasn’t gone to the left! Pelosi doesn’t need Holy Communion, she needs an exorcism!

  8. I make more then $12,000 a month online. It’s enough to comfortably replace my old jobs income, especially considering I only work about 11 to 12 hours a week from home. I was amazed how easy it was after I tried it…GOOD LUCK.. https://www.workbz.com

  9. Nancy Pelosi and the rest of her band of Democrat brothers are all hypocrites.
ROE Vs. WADE – The real story.
Democrats have no one but themselves to blame for the current status of Roe vs. Wade and the availability of abortion on demand. Roe vs. Wade and abortion on demand have been the Democrat’s rallying cry for the past half century and has made the Democrats BILLIONS of dollars over that same half century. The Democrats aren’t really surprised about the Supreme Court’s impending decision, it was bound to happen sooner or later. What really causes Democrat’s concern regarding Roe v. Wade and abortion on demand is the loss of the BILLIONS in fund raising on this issue.
If Democrats really cared, they could have passed laws in the past half century to protect abortion. They have held majorities in the House for most of that time and the Senate for a good portion as well. They even had Democrat Presidents during that time, but NO WAY would they do that and jeopardize their cash cow.
Democrats have controlled the House of Representatives for 34 of the past 50 years, the Senate for 26 of those 50 years and the Presidency for 26 of those 50 years. Democrats have controlled all three, House, Senate, and Presidency for 14 of those years, and both the House and Senate for 24 of those years. If they really wanted to do something to protect abortion on demand, they could have. But, why kill the Golden Goose, the abortion debate and the threat of ending abortion on demand has made the Democrats Billions.

  10. If she wants communion , give it to her , then nail her upside down to a swastika .

  11. It’s one thing to be Catholic; it’s quite another to be Christian; an altar boy rings the bell; a Christian dies with Christ, and is resurrected a new man.

    1. The alter boy says he’s been eating these pork rinds under the alter for three years now.

  12. He did her a favor. The Bible says: “So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord….For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.…”

  13. Nancy just got a one way ticket to Hell . The Grim Reaper is waiting. It’s cool dark and lonely. You’ll love it .

  14. Most Catholics aren’t banned from receiving Communion because they aren’t publicly and frequently pushing mortal sin.

    1. Any Catholic who has an unconfessed mortal sin on their soul must NOT receive communion until they go to confession. To do so condemns that person. Most Catholic understand this of SHOULD understand it.

  15. Thank you San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone. Better late than never.

Nancy’s gonna burn in hell. Sounds okay to me.

  16. Anyone with an unconfessed mortal sin on their soul may not receive the Body and Blood of Christ. To do so condemns them. The Bishop is correct in his attempt to bring Pelosi back into friendship with the Lord. If she does not repent, publicly confess (as she has publicly supported child sacrifice), she will be condemned for eternity. The Bishop is doing his job. Unfortunately this pope does not.
