Billionaire Elon Musk put Twitter on the spot over the platform’s own policies on disinformation when he responded that a user was “absolutely correct” in pointing out that a resurfaced tweet from failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was “misleading disinformation” that should have been recognized as such by the tech giant.
On Halloween night in 2016, Clinton tweeted out a statement from her campaign’s top advisor Jake Sullivan drawing attention to a since debunked report by left-leaning website Slate that a covert server in Trump Tower was communicating with a Russia-based bank, helping to fuel the hysteria that then-candidate Donald J. Trump was in cahoots with the Kremlin. Sullivan is currently President Joe Biden’s national security adviser.
According to Hillary, “Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank,” a blatant lie uncorked just over a week before the election that would end with the crushing humiliation of her loss to the billionaire businessman.

Musk agreed with the user who wrote “@elonmusk I have reported this tweet as misleading disinformation to the powers that be at @twitter. I would be interested to know if, when you receive control over the company, anything was done with this at any level. Pls advise soonest,”
“You are absolutely correct. That tweet is a Clinton campaign hoax for which their campaign lawyer is undergoing a criminal trial,” Musk wrote with a link to a BBC report on the trial of Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann, a former partner at Perkins Coie, the high-powered law firm that has worked on behalf of the Democratic Party.

Sussmann is the first to face trial in the long-running investigation into the origins of the Russia collusion hoax that is being conducted by special counsel John Durham, facing charges that he allegedly lied to the FBI when he presented “evidence” of the outlandish conspiracy theory that Trump was in cahoots with the Kremlin. He has pleaded not guilty.
Musk’s tweet came on a day that featured a stunning bombshell in the Sussmann trial in which Robby Mook, Clinton’s former campaign manager, testified that Hillary herself personally “agreed” to share disinformation about the alleged backchannel between Trump and Putin with the media.
In another tweet sent out early on Saturday morning, Musk responded to a message from Margot Cleveland of The Federalist on the lack of attention that Mook’s damning testimony about his former boss was getting from the mainstream media.
“So @ABCWorldNews had time to cover Monkey Pox & lawsuit against driver of “self-driving”@Telsa surprised @elonmusk?) but no mention of Sussmann trial or Mook saying Hillary okayed Alfa Bank hoax peddling,” wrote Cleveland.

The Tesla/SpaceX billionaire has bedeviled Democrats all week, mocking Biden during a podcast by saying “The real president is whoever controls the teleprompter,” then kicking it up several notches with the announcement that he would be shunning the “party of division & hate” and voting Republican, predicting “Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold…”
In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party.
But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.

At this rate, it won’t be long until Musk replaces Trump at the top of the authoritarian left’s hate list if he hasn’t already done so.
