‘No one should be pro-abortion!’ Maher accuses Dems of moving away from ‘safe, legal and rare’

HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher smacked Democrats on Friday during his show for moving away from their former position of “safe, legal, and rare” on abortion and attempting to ditch the label “pro-choice” for the more graphic term “pro-abortion.”

Maher cited the Clinton-era leftist abortion mantra of “safe, legal, and rare,” arguing “that’s not where the Democrats are now” and that they “don’t say that anymore.” He then proceeded to blast the pro-choice caucus in the House, suggesting they change “choice” to “decision” and potentially use “pro-abortion” instead.

He flatly stated that “No one should be pro-abortion.”

The liberal host pointed out that there is no bipartisanship on the issue and that “Democrats aren’t there either. The phrase in that era, Clinton era, his phrase, safe, legal, and rare. And I think that’s when Democrats were aligned with most Americans. I think that’s what most Americans want, safe, legal, and rare. That’s not where the Democrats are now. They don’t say that anymore. In fact, their own caucus on this in the House this week said, we don’t want to call it ‘choice’ anymore. Because something, something racism, [it’s] ‘decision’ now. They’re even talking about using ‘pro-abortion.’ No one should be pro-abortion.”

Earlier in the show, Maher also warned about a “civil war” taking place where “we’re gonna be two countries, one where you’re a free woman and one where it’s a Dred Scott situation.”

“Look at some of the things that are being proposed in some of these states,” Maher remarked. “I mean, Louisiana says flat-out it’s a homicide. So when you drive from LA to Nevada, on one side of the border, you’re just a free person. The other side, you’re a criminal. You can fly across the country and gain and lose your reproductive rights 20 times. How can America sustain that?”

“It can’t,” former Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.) responded. “And it’s wrong. And what’s wrong with this is that we’ll get worse unless the Supreme Court – let’s pray, let’s pray – comes out with a different decision from the draft opinion.”

“That’s not gonna happen,” Maher informed her.

Maher suggested the abortion rift might give a “tangible sort of concrete pretext” for those who’ve been calling for secession to separate the red states from the blue ones.

“This gives a real issue to it. I wonder where this is going,” he asked.

Maher also nailed the protests that have taken place outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices following the leaked draft opinion indicating the court is on the brink of overturning the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade.

He called out White House press secretary Jen Psaki for being “down with this” when she told reporters at a briefing last week “I don’t have an official U.S. government position on where people protest.”

“But we do!” Maher exclaimed. “It’s wrong! It’s intimidation! It’s against the law!

He went on to assert that the protesters aren’t “terribly violent” but asked the panel, “Would you want this outside your house?”

  1. By definition abortion is a homicide. But as with the other forms of legal homicide it can be made legal by the vote of the people. But not at the Federal level because the 10th amendment did not delegate that authority to the FED. So it is a state by state issue just as is capital punishment. This is why Roe vs Wade will be declared unconstitutional and thrown back to the states.

    1. Google pay 97$ per hour my last pay check was $8500 working 1o hours a week online. My younger brother friend has been averaging 12k for months now and he works about 22 hours a week. I cant believe how easy it was once I tried it outit..
      :) AND GOOD LUCK.:)

  2. Many minority women use abortion like birth control-too lazy or undisciplined to take birth control, so when they get pregnant they get abortions.. One woman bragged how she had 11 abortions, all paid for by the taxpayer. No wonder most of the Democrats Planned Parenthood clinics are located in minority neighborhoods.
