Shocking footage shows moment man ambushed, murdered while filling gas tank in broad daylight

The Philadelphia Police Department has released surveillance footage that shows the brazen and deadly ambush assault on a man who was filling his gas tank at a North Philadelphia gas station earlier in the week.

The shooting happened in broad daylight and is yet more evidence—if such was needed—that Democratic-run cities are descending into chaos and anarcho-tyranny. Police are now searching for the two men who shot and killed the 30-year-old father.

The incident happened at around 2:20 p.m. on Monday, as Brandon Dixon was pumping gas at a Liberty gas station in the north part of the city. The video footage shows a maroon Mazda 3 pull into the station, when two men dressed all in black exit the car and open fire on Dixon. The attackers were wearing the obligatory masks and hoods, and one seemed to wield a handgun while the other was armed with a rifle.

The men can be seen in the video opening fire and running towards the gas pumps, apparently chasing their victim. Fox News reports that additional footage obtained by Fox Philadelphia clearly shows Dixon standing at the gas pump when the car pulls up and the men jump out and begin shooting; Dixon can apparently be seen attempting to flee.

The murderers can then be seen sprinting back to the waiting Mazda, which has New Jersey license plates, after which the getaway driver tears out of the gas station. Dixon, father to a 5-year-old girl, was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead; he apparently suffered gunshot wounds to the head and face. As of now, no arrests have been made.

Fox Philadelphia spoke to Dixon’s mother, Lisa Dixon, who said he was not involved in any criminal activity.

“I would put my hand on the Bible,” she said, “my son, that morning, was not into anything. He was not. I moved from Philly to Plymouth Whitemarsh to put him in a good environment, so he could get a good education, so he could be the best person that he could be.”

“I don’t know who’s raising these children, but they don’t care,” she added. “They have no empathy. They have nothing in them. They don’t care and they took my baby’s life.”

This recent shooting comes amidst a wave of crime and violent assaults, including numerous gun crimes, that have threatened to stall Philadelphia’s post-pandemic recovery. The statistics for the city are pretty grim, with the Philadelphia Inquirer reporting 2,326 shootings for Philadelphia last year. Meanwhile, robberies with a gun have soared 28%, and homicides numbered 562 in 2021—a historic high since 1960, which is as far back as police data for the city go. And that’s an increase of 13% compared to 2020, which wasn’t exactly a calm and crime-free year.

The Philadelphia Police Department, meanwhile, has denounced the shooting as a “brazen act of viciousness,” and is still searching for the suspects in Dixon’s murder.
