Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), the U.S. Senate majority leader, engaged in some fearmongering or gaslighting after the chamber failed to pass a far-reaching abortion law on Wednesday when West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin, along with Republican lawmakers including the moderates, voted no.
“Elect more pro-choice Democrats if you want to see a woman have control over her own body. Elect more pro-choice Democrats if you want to protect a woman’s freedom and right to choose. Elect MAGA Republicans, if you want to see a nationwide ban on abortion, if you want to see doctors and women arrested, if you want to see no exceptions for rape or incest,” an unhappy Schumer said, without evidence, after the vote that he scheduled failed.
If the Dems focus-grouped the MAGA branding, maybe they should ask for their money back from their consultants.
It’s also possible, in the alternative, that Democrats preferred to lose the vote as a way to drive turnout among their base to the polls in November.
It’s kind of a surprise, moreover, that electioneering Schumer, who said he was attempting to make the contrast between the two political parties “crystal clear,” missed the opportunity to lament the opposition from “Ultra-MAGA” Republicans.
You may recall that a hyperventilating Schumer ranted about conservative justices “paying the price” for “unleashing the whirlwind” in a previous SCOTUS abortion-related controversy.

“Make no mistake, it is not Roe vs. Wade codification,” Manchin said in justifying his vote against the bill. “It is an expansion.”
According to a New York Post editorial earlier this week, “the fact is that most of Americans are neither completely pro-life nor totally pro-choice, but a mix of both.”
The leaked, draft Supreme Court opinion authored by Justice Samuel Alito that would strike down the 1973 landmark Roe v. Wade decision if it ever becomes finalized by the majority on the high court would return the abortion rights issue to the states to regulate individually.
The unauthorized disclosure created a firestorm in political/media precincts.
Even if Roe is overturned, the pregnancy-termination procedure, which is a very sensitive issue over which many people are conflicted as the Post suggested, will continue to be legal in blue states and subject to certain restrictions in red states.

The political landscape could change, but to the Dems’ dismay, it appears at this point that most voters are more concerned with out-of-control inflation rather than the pro-choice/pro-life debate.
Schumer and others among the my body, my choice, body-autonomy liberal cohort, moreover, were non-responsive when thousands of women (and men) were forced out of their jobs across the country, including those in the nursing profession and first responders, because of a COVID vaccine mandate.
Chuck’s powers of persuasion are falling short on Twitter. Here is a sampling:
THATS ULTRA MAGA REPUBLICAN TO YOU. I WORK FOR A LIVING

Yes. The contrast between parties is very clear. Ask anyone if they’re better off than 18 months ago.
But keep abortion at the [email protected] your mid term list along with Putin Price Hike Mega Maga and Mega Maga King.

Well I guess I’ll be voting Republican then.

States can individually vote to pass abortion laws if their residents vote that way. States are nearly equally split red vs blue so why do these leftists insist on using scare tactics to fool low information voters? It’s also a lie that a majority of Americans want abortion.

That would be the same Democrats that had a supermajority FOUR TIMES in the last 50 years Chuck? That would be the same Democrats that could have codified R v W at any time dur the TEN YEARS they had the supermajority Chuck?
THOSE Democrats you want use to elect again? 🤔

Chucky is losing his mind. Imagine being stupid enough to believe this crap? But Chucky’s saying it because he knows there are a lot of stupid people who will.

Chuck dropping the ball on student loan forgiveness to focus on a real issue.

Oh Chucky, I think Americans are more worried about $5.00 Gas, High Inflation, No baby formula, supply chain issues and $10 a pound bacon than electing Pro-Abortion Democrats.

Democrats are trying to make voters vote based on a single issue. Obviously because they’ve proven to be horrid at solving problems or making decisions that benefit the nation.

Majority in the House + Majority in the Senate (VP makes it 51) + POTUS = Super Majority
Sadly, it’s not enough.
