Prison guard Vicky White’s last words to her prison inmate lover Casey White were caught on audio in the final moments of her life, telling him to get out and run just before she shot herself in the head as police closed in, later dying from her gunshot wound in a hospital.

The 911 audio was hard to understand but parts of it stood out as the couple tried to avoid capture. After they were rammed in their Cadillac by police and were forced into a ditch as they tried to escape, Vicky White can be heard saying, “Stop, stop, the airbags will go off and kill us.”

Shortly after that, Vicky White can be heard saying, “Let’s get out and run!” and then she desperately turned on Casey White, blaming him for the tragic end to their escape, raging, “You had to stay in some f***ing motel!” He evidently laughed at that statement.

The couple was descended upon by police after an Evansville police department patrol officer ran the plates on their stolen car outside of Motel 41, on the outskirts of the Indiana town. The couple had been staying there for days.

Not long after that, the prison guard allegedly shot herself in the head and Casey White was taken into custody. He’s now back in Alabama.

After the guard shot herself, 911 audio of a police officer can be heard saying that Vicky White has a gun in her right hand and “has her finger on the trigger.” She was reportedly still alive and holding the gun in her hand when police arrived at the scene.

On Tuesday night, Vanderburgh County Coroner Steve Lockyear verified that the corrections officer died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to CBS News.

“The manner of death has been ruled a suicide,” the coroner’s office stated.

“His immediate words to our team was, ‘Please help my wife. She just shot herself in the head,’” Deputy Marshal Chad Hunt, commander of the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, told reporters. There Is no evidence the two were ever married.

When the couple was finally caught, they had $29,000 in cash on them, wigs, four handguns, and an AR-15 rifle.

As White shuffled in shackles into court just before 10 pm on Tuesday he said very little, according to the Daily Mail. He spoke only to Judge Ben Graves to tell him he had counsel after being charged with escape in the first degree.

The charge is being added to a long list of other felonies, including capital murder where he allegedly stabbed to death 58-year-old Connie Ridgeway. The inmate has confessed to the murder claiming he was paid to do it.

If convicted, White could get the death penalty.

White’s attorneys will reportedly file a motion for a change of venue due to all the publicity surrounding the escape and the tragic events that led to his capture. The trial will move forward in June as previously scheduled.

When asked by reporters if it was worth it and if he felt any remorse over Vicky White’s death, he did not react.
