British Lamborghini owner ends up in cuffs after belligerent tirade following robbery on LA street

A wealthy Los Angeles couple was reportedly robbed while they stood next to their luxury car on Monday, adding to the city’s increasing jewelry theft problem.

A British Lamborghini owner and his girlfriend, who both reside in Los Angeles, were robbed of a Rolex timepiece and a Michael Kors watch worth about $20,000, by a gang who fled in a Rolls-Royce, according to a video obtained by the Daily Mail.

The footage showed a tattooed male victim shouting angrily as his girlfriend and police tried to calm him down. The video was taken right after the robbery took place and the couple appeared to be drunk, according to DM.

“Those black bastards!” the man appeared to yell while his girlfriend shot back, “shut up!” The male robbery victim became so belligerent that the officers arrested him, the Daily Mail reported.

LA Sheriff’s Department officials say the couple was robbed around 1 a.m. by a six-person gang when they returned to their vehicle early Monday morning following an argument in a parking lot on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, KTLA reported. The suspects then physically assaulted the couple, the female victim told LA police.

Currently, the LAPD is tracking down the suspects, described as black men wearing dark clothing who fled southbound toward Larrabee Street in their black luxury vehicle. They are attempting to find surveillance footage from the area.

However, Monday’s theft is only the latest in increasing jewelry and purse stealing incidents among the city’s wealthy residents, as police claim criminals are getting released from jail just to go ahead and commit similar crimes.

Residents are even being encouraged to leave flashy jewelry at home to avoid making themselves targets to criminals as the city’s violent crime wave surges, and the progressive District Attorney George Gascon has released a statement telling residents to lock their cars.

According to Daily Mail, LA property crimes have risen 12.3 percent from last year, while violent crimes increased 7.5 percent. Robberies rose 18.8 percent from January 1 through April 30, when compared to the same time period last year, and burglaries rose 9.5 percent. Thefts from vehicles rose 9.4 percent, while motor vehicle thefts rose 13.7 percent.

Though at the same time, robbery arrests are down 5.6 percent from last year, burglary arrests are down 15.4 percent and motor vehicle arrests are down nearly 10 percent.

Just last month, five follow-home robberies occurred in just over 48 hours, with video from one of the incidents showing a woman being mowed down by a Dodge muscle car, allowing muggers to steal her watch.

Many of the latest crimes are reportedly committed by gangs in South LA working independently, Los Angeles Police Department Captain Jonathan Tippet said last month. In many cases, the gangs then sell those belongings on the black market.

“There’s no chance or opportunity for these victims even to comply,” Tippet said last month, according to the Los Angeles Times. “They’re just running up to people and attacking them, whether that’s putting a gun in their face or punching them…pistol-whipping them, as well.”

Tippet heads the task force of the LAPD assigned to track “follow home” arrests and notes that the task force has been successful so far, causing crimes to fall last month. “Due to the crisis, we began making arrests as quickly as possible once individuals were identified,” he said.
