Raleigh, North Carolina police officers on Saturday fatally fired upon a male suspect who’d allegedly been throwing Molotov cocktails at police cruisers and officers alike.
The incident reportedly began around 1:20 pm in the parking lot of the Raleigh Police Department’s southeast district office when an officer spotted a man setting police cruisers on fire using Molotov cocktails, according to local station WNCN.
“The officer then summoned other officers who arrived in the parking lot. Police told the man to stop throwing the incendiary weapons. However, the man continued to throw Molotov cocktails in the parking lot and two Raleigh police cruisers were engulfed in flames,” the station reported.
The suspect then reportedly threw a Molotov cocktail toward the officers, prompting all four to open fire.
“After the man was shot, officers moved him away from a burning car and tried to help the person. The wounded man was taken to a nearby hospital, but died,” according to WNCN.
All four officers have been placed on administrative leave, investigations have been launched by both the Raleigh PD and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and Raleigh Police Chief Estella D. Patterson has confirmed that she’s petitioned a local judge to have the body cameras worn by all four officers publicly released.
Below is reportedly footage of the shooting that was recorded by a nearby bystander:
Video of the @raleighpolice shooting yesterday. Looks like multiple officers against a man with an explosive device (Molotov Cocktail). I’ve heard the same suspect tried to burn a gas station down on Friday. Sadly I’m just getting for “Blame The Cops Monday.” #Raleigh #NCPol pic.twitter.com/cMSeoxWNw3

All the steps being taken in response to the shooting — administrative leave, investigations, etc. — has some wondering why.
“Why do they have to do all this justification for shooting a psycho who is trying to kill them with fire ? I dont get it,” a comment posted to WNCN’s YouTube page reads.

The answer likely is liberals.
Left-wing activists on social media have already begun complaining about the shooting, arguing that the “unarmed” suspect shouldn’t have been “executed.”

So they shot him for committing arson…

Did they have to shoot , he threw the molotov and was left unarmed

Cops are not interested in *solving* crimes.
Why didn’t they have the firefighters turn their hoses on him & pin him to the ground with water so they could arrest him & find out why he did it?

While the complainers are far and few between, leftists have demonstrated that it only takes a handful of disgruntled people to trigger devastating, widespread riots.
Though on the other hand, while Raleigh is a Democrat city, it’s more of a blue-dog Democrat city in the style of West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin. Suffice it to say, it’s not a hotbed of far-left extremism like Portland, Oregon, or Seattle, Washington.
Had the shooting occurred in a city like Portland, Antifa extremists would have likely came out in droves late Saturday to riot and destroy property.
Over in Portland, even some local “journalists” and “reporters” are eager members of the left-wing mob:
BREAKING: Portland reporter Mike Bivins has been arrested over vandalism attacks on synagogues & attempted arson at a mosque. He’s been charged w/multiple felonies. His last DM to me in 2020 was a message critical of me posting #Antifa riot mugshots. https://t.co/piHPr2AkUe pic.twitter.com/vbihNL9p6B

This is not the case in Raleigh.
Raleigh police officers last killed a suspect in January. The killing of suspect Daniel Turcios did trigger some protests, but they were small and muted.
“There were passionate pleas on the streets of downtown Raleigh on Thursday night, as the family of Daniel Turcios joined with supporters to condemn Raleigh Police for what they say was police brutality,” local station WTVD reported in February.
“Turcios was shot and killed by RPD officers last month after crashing his car on the Raleigh Beltline. On Thursday night, demonstrators marched and rallied in Moore Square. By the dozens, they stepped out of the square and took their message to the streets with signs and loud bullhorn-blasting chants for justice.”
In cities controlled by the far-left, police shooting-related protests tend to be loud and destructive:
#Antifa & others are using Twitter to call for violence in Grand Rapids, Mich. over the police shooting death of #PatrickLyoya. Bodycam footage shows Lyoya violently resisting arrest & grabbing the officer’s taser before being shot dead. https://t.co/0HRiWTXwkR pic.twitter.com/QA5FFzkDQg
