Here we go! Rachel Maddow warns of ‘South American-style, nationwide abortion ban’ if GOP wins WH

The Leftist hysteria in the wake of the news that the Supreme Court will likely overturn Roe v. Wade has been predictably overwrought.

And one of the more amusing reactions comes courtesy of MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, who commiserated with Chris Hayes during a six-minute handoff as “The Rachel Maddow Show” was set to begin. This occurred just as a Politico report dropped that detailed a leaked draft purporting to show that the U.S. Supreme Court will overturn the longstanding and contentious Roe v. Wade ruling, which has made abortion the law of the land since 1973. It also appears to reject Planned Parenthood v. Casey, the equally controversial 1992 addendum upholding Roe.

“I am absorbing this right now, as you are talking about it, uh, Chris,” Maddow said in her exchange with Hayes.

“This is, I mean as far as…you and I both need more time to process this than is afforded by the fact that we’re live on television right now. But, do we share the understanding that this is the first time before a ruling has been issued we have seen what purports to be the draft ruling ever leaked to the press?”

It wasn’t exactly Maddow’s most articulate and eloquent moment, but it was clearly a testament to her emotional reaction to the news.

“That is my understanding,” Hayes responded.

He added: “I think you and I, who are both kind of SCOTUS buffs, and have always had an interest in the Court, it’s just a, sort of an arresting moment because the code of omertà around that institution is so strong and so powerful, that both the substance of what is being leaked here and the communicative signaling happening in the fact of the leak, is almost sort of emotional, at some deep level, because of what it signifies.”

It was at this point that Maddow sought to make dystopian comparisons to…South America.

“Yeah,” Maddow agreed, “and, I mean, when you were just speaking to Irin Carmon, as you said, you booked her today to talk about this new reporting that Republicans in Washington have been debating and planning on proposing a nationwide abortion ban, you know, a six-week abortion ban, which is effectively a complete ban on abortion in the United States.

“And if this ruling is going—if the ultimate ruling from the Court is going to look anything like this, and we’re going into a midterm season where the Republicans are poised to take the House and the Senate, um, then President Biden is still President Biden, and he would presumably veto such a measure. But, in the event that we had a Republican president in 2024, that’s where we’d be. We’d be at a South America-style, nationwide abortion ban in America,” she contended.

Hayes agreed.

“Just to be clear, it would be, and I can’t, you know, no one knows the future, and you and I think agree on that,” Hayes said, sensibly enough, “it would be the first bill. It would be H.R. 1 and S. 1…I don’t think there’s any question about that, that that would be the first bill in a Republican trifecta in a post-Roe landscape.”

At least abortion proponents will still have Virginia.

  1. It would of been great if Maddows mom would of done the world s favor. One less lesbo in the world

  2. The lisbo found her boogie man again, she found her mojo for living. LOL

  3. If abortion is such a personal issue and is between the woman and her doctor as the abortion lovers say, then why the hell do you want the government to be involved with your personal issue.

  4. What’s morally wrong is that ” planned Parenthood ” isn’t shelling out safe sex methods to men and women who are indeed of such spontaneous actions , there not planning this out very good ! In fact it’s disastrous . I think there’s more to it than meets the eye , like democrats give millions to planned parenthood and probably get millions back in donations to there party . That’s my opinion .

  5. Madcow is lying about her being a SCOTUS buff. Anyone who has studied the court at all knew Roe V Wade was a bad decision constitutionally. The extremely liberal SCOTUS of 1973 managed to find a right of privacy that is not in the constitution, upon which they based their decision. Of course she was lying, if her lips are moving, you know she is lying. FJB

  6. Uh, Rachel, since you’re supposed to be so smart I’ll help you out….

”The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”

  7. TIMING IS EVERYTHING!!!

Hey Folks….WAKE UP!!! One Million to one says that this “leak” is the work of the DNC or some leftist liberal organization. The democrats are looking at a midterm bloodbath and what a great way to sway the masses of an untold number of women. Watch as they play this to the utmost. This is a con job!

  8. I find it interesting that the Left never gives a bit of thought to the other person who is involved in producing a pregnancy. As far as I know there’s only one reported case where a baby was produced without a male person being involved. By the way, the result of that union is not a fan of abortion, you can bet your eternity on that. So, when does the male involved in the reproductive process get to have a say in the outcome? I’m sure all you women out there share this concern, after all, you invited his firm male part to the party.

    1. I like that observation. Still, I have a theory: they don’t see men as having a stake in the issue. A man may have helped with conception, but it’s not like he’ll be carrying it around “in his belly” for nine months, and putting up with vomiting and whatever. He could leave at any time, as many on that side of the aisle almost certainly do.
Adding to that theory, they don’t want men to have skin in that game. Breaking up the family is a goal, and letting a father have a say isn’t so good at getting men and women up in arms against each other as treating males like masturbation machines or sperm-donors.

  9. Democrats have a serious love affair with death going on. I wonder who’ll they’ll target if they can’t legally murder babies anymore?

    1. With how the left’s aggression is going, ever less hinged, so to speak, should it go get anywhere near what it was like in places like Portland, I think the smart bet is they’ll target anyone they think they can get away with offing. Meaning places like San Francisco are probably going to become even more hellish.

  10. The SCOTUS said its not a federal thing unless congress passes it as a law. Its a states thing. So New Yorkers and
Californianscan kill your kids as much you want

  11. Did she juggle or do a little dance while doing this interview since the only way she got out of her libel suit was the liberal judge proclaiming her show wasn’t actually, factually news but for entertainment purposes only.

  12. So then if the GOP wins in November we will have a nation wide ban on murdering infants? Sounds like a pretty good reason to vote GOP.

        1. Well, if we’re just as bad as they are, our victory won’t last long, and they’ll wind up back in power. Or else, their successors will. Worse, our successors will become just like them, which is materially the same as the other possibilities.
Besides, do you really want this to escalate? Should someone on our side start bumping them off, we’ll have them shooting even more of us down.
