The Atlantic’s Molly Jong-Fast, perhaps known best for her nuclear hot takes and minimal brain activity, made the mistake of complaining about “old, rich white men” in the wake of Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter.
Unfortunately for her, Jong-Fast isn’t exactly a minority or a victim, which would put her in a better position to make those criticisms. As progressive journalist and slayer of nonsense Glenn Greenwald pointed out, she personally identifies with every insult she uses.
“Rich white woman [Molly Jong-Fast] – who won the birth lottery by being born to rich famous white parents who raised her in Manhattan, sent her to private schools, and thus herself bought an Upper East Side co-op for $5 million in 2007 at the age of 29 – rants about ‘rich white men’.”

To further solidify his point, Greenwald attached a screenshot from an Observer article on Jong-Fast’s $5m purchase. Nothing says “I’m oppressed” like having that kind of dough to throw around!
Here’s your oppressed, marginalized journalist who really understands struggling and suffering at the hands of “rich white men”:✊✊✊https://t.co/Kn1BFXCMTP pic.twitter.com/N9AyMoAEbT

Somehow, according to the mental gymnastics of liberal logic, Jong-Fast and her cohort of rich, white female journalists are somehow more oppressed than a white man who has less than a fraction of what they do.
When affluent liberals raised in wealth and privilege write the rules of discourse and construct the definitions of “marginalization,” “oppression,” and “diversity,” of course they’re going to exclude any consideration of class background, for obvious and self-serving reasons.

“In liberal discourse, people raised in vast wealth and privilege like Molly Jong-Fast and Taylor Lorenz are more marginalized and oppressed than, say, an unemployed white father of 3 in a de-industrialized, fentanyl-overrun town with no health care. He can’t be marginalized,” Greenwald explains. “When affluent liberals raised in wealth and privilege write the rules of discourse and construct the definitions of ‘marginalization,’ ‘oppression,’ and ‘diversity,’ of course they’re going to exclude any consideration of class background, for obvious and self-serving reasons.”
To round out the thread, Greenwald exposed Jong-Fast for having protected her tweets, likely due to the backlash she was getting for her thoughtless, hypocritical comments.
LOL – At the end of the day, somehow the media elites who grew up in the richest and most privileged backgrounds, and who now enjoy extreme influence and power, are always the Real Victims™: pic.twitter.com/XpD4Xp7JYO
