NYT changes Weather Underground terrorist Kathy Boudin’s obit tweet, but not fast enough to hide truth

The passing of former Weather Underground member Kathy Boudin was announced Sunday and, rather than be accused of real journalism, The New York Times was quick to revise their original headline after the truth shone a less than flattering light on the convicted felon and terrorist.

Boudin, mother to the current San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, died Sunday from cancer. The Columbia University professor and left-wing activist was best known for her involvement in the 1981 robbery of an armored truck that resulted in the slaying of the driver and two police officers, but the Times wanted to make sure you didn’t get the wrong impression about her.

In their updated tweet promoting the obituary, they wrote, “Kathy Boudin, a member of the Weather Underground imprisoned for her role in a fatal robbery but who later helped former inmates, died at 78.”

The original caption was far less sugar-coated and offered an unbiased glimpse at who the deceased was, “Kathy Boudin, who as a member of the Weather Underground took part in the murderous 1981 holdup of a Brink’s armored truck, died on Sunday. She was 78.”

Evidently, that did not fit into the standard of “all the news that’s fit to print” that the Times is so famously known for.

Lest you think the Times only glossed over the nature of Boudin’s crimes, for which she was convicted of felony murder and given a sentence of 20 years to life, they made sure to inform their readers that “She proved to be a model prisoner at Bedford Hills, mentoring other inmates, attending to those with AIDS, writing poetry and expressing remorse for her role in the Brink’s robbery deaths.”

After laying out the facts of the deaths of Brinks security guard Peter Paige, Sgt. Edward J. O’Grady and Officer Waverly L. Brown, who were gunned down as the Weathermen joined up with members of the Black Liberation Army to steal $1.6 million, they wrote, “At her sentencing, she turned to the victims’ relatives. ‘I know that anything I say now will sound hollow, but I extend to you my deepest sympathy,’ she said. ‘I feel real pain.'”

As had been reported at the time of her appointment to a full-time professorship with Columbia, Fox News’s Jesse Watters had spoken with Boudin who told him, “I have nothing but regret for the suffering I caused and I’ve attempted to lead a life that would express that remorse and regret.”

However, Watters contended her actions and disregard for the feelings of the victims proved otherwise, stating, “She’s shown no remorse for this crime and she’s using the college as a soapbox to promote her mission to get her husband, who has a 75-year sentence, and other co-defendants out of jail.”

The influence of her DA son proved critical to that end as The New York Post reported, David Gilbert, the getaway driver for the deadly robbery and father to Chesa Boudin, had his sentence of 75 years to life commuted in 2021 by since disgraced Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY).

As this is not the first time corporate media outlets have described the reputations of a terrorist, one social media user shared a 2019 headline from The Washington Post to really hammer home the message the Times’ amended blurb was sending.

  1. Quote: “The Columbia University professor and left-wing activist was best known for her involvement in the 1981 robbery of an armored truck that resulted in the slaying of the driver and two police officers, but the Times wanted to make sure you didn’t get the wrong impression about her.” When real honest to God white domestic terrorists are given professor positions is it any wonder that there is so much chaos in the country. They are only following what they were taught.

  2. Meanwhile, their noxious child is screwing up SF right now, ensuring that people like these two disgusting murderers can walk the street and make decent people less safe.

  3. That’s too bad. RIP.
Remember that the weather service of the same name is closely related the real Weather Underground. I believe they are turning up the gain on commercial radar to make climate change look real.
That bunch has had a determined hand in corrupting education too. Ask Obama about his friends Bill and Bernadine.

  4. Let’s not forget Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn we’re involved with her and the Weather Underground. Ayers who also said they wished they could had done more and praised the 9/11 Terrorist was all to happy helping Obama launch his Political career in their living room in their Chicago home!
How did all these criminals get lucrative jobs as Professors in prestigious universities and still have any kind of platform to educate or do any lectures to the public unless they were helped by Democrats! Why are they not shunned from society instead of lifted up by the same people who want to destroy America!

  5. In other news, the New York Slimes has an immediate opening in the obituary department. Some lying experience necessary.

  6. I hope her cancer was so f***ing painful that she passed out continuously from the excruciating pain.
