Biotech entrepreneur says Twitter alone not enough to stop behind the scenes ‘idea-fixing’ from WH

Biotech entrepreneur and political commentator Vivek Ramaswamy has a name for what the Biden administration is attempting to do with its so-called Disinformation Governance Board: Idea-fixing.

It’s like price-fixing, he said Saturday on Fox News’ “Unfiltered with Dan Bongino,” but much, much, much worse.

And it’s not just happening between the White House and big tech. It’s also occurring between big tech companies themselves.

Ramaswamy made the remarks while warning host Dan Bongino that billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter is by itself not enough to stem the tide of censorship currently plaguing the United States.

Listen:

“One of the things that’s underappreciated is how much these firms coordinate with one another behind the scenes. And this is not price-fixing. This is not the John D. Rockefeller era. This is idea-fixing, which I think is actually even more dangerous for a democracy than price-fixing,” he said.

“And hiding and lurking behind the veil of it all is not just the invisible hand of the free market, as they claim, but the increasingly visible fist of big government itself, where the state, as you pointed out, is coordinating from behind the scenes, the White House is coordinating from behind the scenes on what these companies can and can’t allow on the Internet, what does and doesn’t pass the Central Bureau of Information’s test for what counts as everyday people able to consume through the internet.”

Pivoting to Musk’s purchase of Twitter, Ramaswamy added, “So I think that’s actually the thing that reveals that what we’re seeing here with Twitter is just the beginning. This is not anywhere near the end. It might be, as a famous man once said, the end of the beginning. But at the end of the day, I think that this is still just the tip of the iceberg for what we’re going to need to see in order to really restore a true free marketplace of ideas.”

His remarks came after a monologue from Bongino in which he warned that censorship is being perpetrated by all the big tech companies, not just Twitter.

“Here are a few examples. First, what about Wikipedia? You really don’t hear Wikipedia much, especially when it comes to the big tech censorship game. But don’t doubt me on this. Wikipedia is becoming a powerful source for censorship and rewriting history, and they’re just as influential in some cases as social media is,” Bongino said.

“Then there’s the Apple App Store. You know about Apple, of course. But do you know about the App Store? Where you go to get apps? Well, one of the most powerful platforms online, the App Store, they have a monopoly over there, they can just about ban any content they want. Politics don’t even need to be involved.”

Bongino concluded his monologue by warning conservatives to be vigilant.

“It’s happening all around us. The App Store, Google Ad Network, Wikipedia. Google Ads is one of the most powerful, devastating tools the Left has to censor conservative voices. It’s not all about Twitter, Facebook and YouTube,” he said.

These remarks from Ramaswamy and Bongino come amid the uproar over the Biden administration’s newly announced Disinformation Governance Board that conservatives strongly suspect will be used to more openly direct the censorship of conservative and, in fact, all non-establishment voices. Dissenters, basically.

The remarks also came on the same night that President Joe Biden, whose administration has shown itself to be an enemy of free speech, and comedian Trevoer Noah delivered remarks at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner promoting free speech.

“Here in America, good journalism, good satire about our leaders, about our society is quintessentially an American thing. It demonstrates the power of our example. And I honest to God believe it reveals our soul, the soul of our nation. That’s what I’d like to toast tonight, to the journalists and their families to the people and the elected representatives to the United States of America,” the president for his part said.

The remarks triggered outrage given that, one, this administration is desperate to prosecute famed journalist Julian Assange, and two, this administration complains incessantly about the alleged need to silence so-called “misinformation” and “disinformation.”

  1. He’s right. Big tech, bureaucrats, the doj, fbi, democrat party, are all on the take and dishonest. But blowing up Twitter is a start.

  2. I must agree with agree with Ramaswamy, the purchase of Twitter is not enough to stop the systematic attack on our First Amendment right by big tech. BUT it is a START…. Go Elon Musk…!?!?!

    1. I agree, it’s a start. I noticed some time ago Wikipedia had started rewritng everything from biograhies to history, in a leftist view, nothing bad about any Biden, trash Trump….. Zuckerberg bought the election, we all know that. Thank goodness some states have outlawed Zuckerbucks.
