In an interview on the Fox News Channel, U.S. Sen. John Kennedy called out both Republicans and Democrats over their failure to get serious about stopping wasteful federal government spending, which includes more than a half a million dollars for an organization called Hookers for Jesus, as well as sending checks to dead people.

Bipartisan fiscal responsibility is “like going to heaven. Everybody wants to go to heaven; nobody is quite ready to make the trip,” Kennedy quipped in the video embedded above. “It’s as if Congress thinks that this money, this budget, is funded by leprechauns. It came from the American people. It’s been my biggest frustration since I came up here.

“There is no appetite, none, zero, zilch, nada, to try to reduce spending and reduce the waste in the budget,” the senator insisted. “And everybody knows that it’s there…unless you dropped acid in the…parking lot, you can find hundreds of millions of dollars in about 10 minutes just by picking up a copy of the budget.”

Democrat-turned-Republican Kennedy, who is a soundbite machine, first took office in January 2017 and is up for reelection this year.

Fox News host Jesse Watters teed up the segment on his eponymous show by listing some profligate appropriations such as $2.35 million for “seafood equity (“because every scallop deserves to be treated fairly,”) before giving the green light to the Louisiana lawmaker.

“Senator Kennedy, the floor is yours,” the host said.

“I would make three points, Jesse. Number one: You left some out,” Kennedy responded. “I have seen the federal government, for example, give $530,000 to a group called Hookers for Jesus. I have seen the federal government spend $2.1 million for sex education for Ethiopian prostitutes. And I could continue with other examples of spending porn. And every time that Congress allows this to happen, it is as if Congress is taking a Great Dane-size whiz down the leg of every taxpayer in America.”

Without naming names, Kennedy claimed that some of his GOP colleagues, who “talk a good game about fiscal responsibility,” are typically of no help in rooting out the taxpayer-funded revenue rip-off.

“Point two: This is a bipartisan problem; this isn’t just Democrats,” Kennedy explained. “A couple years ago, I passed a bill, it was like pulling teeth, to try to reduce the number of checks that the federal government sends to dead people – checks which get cashed, obviously fraud. It was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done. And a lot of the indifference, and in some cases, opposition came from Republicans.”

Kennedy went on to say that it seems unlikely that taxpayer dollars will be spent wisely anytime soon, although he is not giving up.

“Number three, look, it’s going to continue, Jesse. I could lie to the American people and tell them  ‘oh, we’re gonna get serious about it.’ Right now, we have raging inflation; it’s caused in large part by the excessive spending by the federal government.”

The senator’s short-term solution is to freeze all new spending other than defense. “But that’s not going to happen.”

Kennedy went on to claim that Congress is poised to pass a $250 billion Big Tech subsidy which he calls the “China Bill.” He also predicted that the open-borders Biden administration, even as it plans to rescind Title 42, will absurdly ask for more money to “secure the border.”

“What does [Biden] need more money for? To put up road signs going ‘this way in’?” he wondered.

At the beginning of the segment, Watters noted that the Biden administration has wasted $2 billion by not completing ex-President Trump’s border wall.

According to Reuters, the nonprofit Hookers for Jesus “run by a born-again Christian survivor of sex trafficking, operates a safe house for adult trafficking victims known as Destiny House.” The group’s website explains, in part, that “Through our programs, we offer transitional support to at-risk women who want to escape the commercial sex industry.”

  1. Democrats have never been responsible for taxpayer money. As soon as they get into power the spending begins. They are bankrupting the country. This is the globalist plan.

  2. Is anyone on this forum surprised by this? Disgusted I’m sure, but NOT surprised. I wonder how much the 535 members of congress got from the hookers. Or maybe a free BJ by the hooker of their choice. The SWAMP SCUM lives and enjoys.

  3. My absolute favorite spending hypocrite was and remains Ron Paul.

He would submit his pork to the committee along with all the other parasites, then vote against the budget bill loudly protesting all the pork spending.

Of course the budget would pass. It was never in question. Paul would then boast of his fiscal goodness on the national stage while quietly reminding his District that he had indeed brought home the bacon.

  4. Not much to say. Welcome to America. Get your free food here, and five star lodging pass. Hookers for Jesus welcomes you, at taxpayers expense. Oh, and tax the wealthy and get rid of inflation.
