Joy Reid smears Musk over Twitter buyout, suggests he wants to bring ‘back’ South African apartheid

MSNBC’s Joy Reid once again demonstrated her exceptional mediocrity in political and cultural analysis as she attempted to make the case that entrepreneur Elon Musk’s objective in buying Twitter was not about his proclaimed goal of preserving free speech, but rather represents a thinly-veiled effort toward social media apartheid since, she believes, “he misses the old South Africa in the 80s.”

During Tuesday’s episode of “The Reid Out,” political scientist Jason Johnson joined Reid to talk about how she believes Musk’s acquisition of Twitter is detrimental to society. In the conversation, Reid not only trashed the billionaire as having racist objectives, but she presented the case that every proponent of free speech was potentially a racist, misogynistic, antisemitic reprobate out to commit violence against anyone who did not fit into a cookie-cutter world.

“And the bottom line is as you said, they don’t want to just be in the club…They have been described as being on the outside of the culture looking in through the glass, but they don’t want to just come in,” Reid argued of those who’ve remained censored on the social media platform. “They want to come in and be able to punch people in the face and walk around and laugh about it and not have anyone be able to stop them.”

“The thing is, the enjoyment they get out of being in this ‘town square’ is being able to harass people; being able to attack people,” she declared without citing any evidence. “There was a time when people had the double hashtags around their names because they were Jewish, and right-wingers were saying ‘get in the oven’ anytime you made any benign comment on Twitter. They attacked women. You know the misogyny was crazy on Twitter for a while.”

This led to her ultimate conclusion that, by wanting to allow these supposed ends, “Elon Musk, I guess he, you know, he misses the old South Africa in the 80s. He wants, he wants that back.”

Reid’s display falls precisely into what Musk described as the “extreme antibody reaction from those who fear free speech.”

Musk has made clear that his objective is to maintain an environment that is in accordance with what is permissible in society based on law. That didn’t stop Reid’s guest, Johnson, from joining in, suggesting that free speech was a ploy for digital gentrification.

“We all know Elon Musk wants to control Twitter. We know why the right wants to control Twitter,” he argued. “They don’t want to go with their own club. They don’t want to hang out at the honky-tonk. They want to go to the club where the cool people are. And so they know they can’t go in unless they buy the entire block.”

Reid had previously stated similar views of Musk in the midst of his takeover attempt, saying, “Fear not right-wingers, another bro-fascist, is waiting in the wings to defend your right to spew bile online in the name of free speech,” before her guest opined, “[Musk] is building in Tesla a documentedly [sic] racist company that perhaps reminds him, gives him nostalgic memories of apartheid South Africa.”

  1. Why do we listen to Joy Reid? This whatever is nothing but a bimbo and it would be very dificult for her to make an intelligent comment on any subject.

  2. Why MSDNC is allowed to let this woman spew her racism is beyond me. She sees a racist behind every tree. She and Mystal both. Can’t believe people actually waste their time watching this nonsense. One of the most privileged!

  3. That’s right N**ger! Keep stoking those racist ideals of yours and you shall be the recipient of same! What a buffoon!!!!!!!!

  4. It would seem MSNBC has no standards, allow this racist psycho black dog in heat to say anything and everything. They shoot dogs don’t they??

    1. AND ISN’T IT FUN TO WATCH ALL THE ONES WHO HELPED THE CHEATING IN THE LAST ELECTION CRY, BECAUSE THEY KNOW WE NOW WILL HAVE AN OUTLET THAT DOESN’T HIDE ONE SIDE’S MENDACITY!!!.

  5. Would someone please shut this hag up? There is no place on this earth for hateful, race baiters like her. Hopefully, MSNBC falls like CNN+. It’s hard to believe she has an audience. Something must be wrong with those people.

  6. The “Race :Lady” epitomizes the concept that “leftism is a mental illness”!

      1. That`s the nickname that Tucker Carlson gave her a couple of years ago. Seems appropriate to me….

  7. Besides CRIMES>>Assaults/Rapes/Arson/MURDER/ Rioting/Looting/Arson and UNWANTED BLACK CHILDREN/Welfare/Affirmative Action>not qualified, getting jobs etc..< and their INFAMOUS RACE CARDS>blaming every other RACES because they are UNCIVILIZED>>What DO Negros actually CONTRIBUTE?

  8. If the black community of Africa was acting like they are in the U.S. I can understand why the S. Africans were looking for a way to get it under control. Not that I agree with Apartheid.

    1. there’s absolutely no evidence to support the statement that we are the greatest country in the world anymore

We stood up for what was right.  We fought for moral reasons.  We passed laws, struck down laws, for moral reasons. We waged wars on poverty, not poor people. We sacrificed.  We cared about our neighbors. We put our money where our mouths were.  And we never beat our chest. [“USA! USA!”]

We built great big things, made ungodly technological advances, explored the universe , cured diseases  and we cultivated the world’s greatest artists and the world’s greatest economy  We reached for the stars. Acted like men. We aspired to intelligence. We didn’t belittle it — it didn’t make us feel inferior.

We didn’t identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election, and we didn’t scare so easy.

We were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed. By great men.  Men who were revered. Cronkite, Morrow, Brinkley etc etc

NOW WE HAVE POTATO HEAD AT CNN AND MAD COW AT MSNBC
