The Left is gearing up to fight them Nazis like it’s 1944.
Picture it: Elon Musk has just purchased Twitter. Seems like a straightforward acquisition of a floundering tech platform by a man who’s worth a quarter-trillion dollars and has a proven track record of pioneering some of the most advanced technologies and successful corporations in history—including one of the most popular car brands and a space exploration company that rivals NASA and the world’s other top space agencies.
It’s an opportunity for new achievements and holds out the promise of unleashing the potential of a company that had gone seriously astray in recent years.
If that’s what you thought about Musk’s purchase of Twitter, you’d be wrong. And we have none other than self-described “anti-racist educator” Tim Wise, who is apparently an advisor to the US military (which may explain a great deal about that institution’s recent failures in Afghanistan and elsewhere,) to thank for schooling us about the proper way to view the matter.
In a since-deleted tweet, Wise informed the world that Musk taking Twitter private signals the return of the Third Reich. In fact, we might as well call it the Fourth Reich, because apparently, it’s here to stay. But the reign of these latter-day fascists begins not with a March on Rome, or a Beer Hall Putsch—no, nothing so dramatic as that. It all starts with Musk’s Twitter takeover.

Go get ’em, Tim. Meanwhile, people were somewhat baffled by what exactly the distinguished military advisor meant by this curious statement.
“deal with Nazis the way our grandparents did…” like D-Day? Is he promoting to storm data centers or something? I am having trouble parsing that wall of text.

The people he is calling Nazis (freedom loving Americans) are the children and grandchildren of the people who beat back the Nazis. The men who stormed the beaches of Normandy. Not only are we not Nazis, but you don’t even have the balls to storm my front door.

Others on Twitter observed that it was the Nazis who, in their Enabling Acts following Hitler’s accession to the Chancellorship and the Reichstag Fire, ensured the censorship and suppression of free speech — which is precisely what Musk is combatting in its current left-wing incarnation.
Yes because the Nazis were REALLY big on free speech..

The irony that Tim doesn’t seem to understand is that the Nazis were the ones that were doing what they want to do by controlling the language and not allowing people to speak freely.

There are so many other fascinating ironies surrounding Mr. Wise that we’ve barely scratched the surface. Like so many others of his class, he’s a fervent supporter of lending U.S. support to Ukraine in its current struggle against the Russian invaders. A worthy goal, but that means supporting actual Nazis, in the form of such fascist Ukrainian paramilitaries as the notorious Azov Regiment, the Aidar Battalion, and associated neo-Nazi groups like the Wotanjugend, C14, Karpatska Sich, etc.
So there are plenty of real Nazis out there that Tim can “deal with the way our grandparents did.” Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be at the top of his list of things to do.
1/ These Putin supporting leftists who buy the whole "but Ukraine has lots of Nazis" bullshit are why the left is increasingly a joke. Yes, the Azov Battalion is Nazified and deserves to be crushed (by the Ukraine govt), and surely not part of the Ukrainian National Guard…
— Tim Wise (@timjacobwise) March 9, 2022
2/ But Nazis and white nationalists have little sway with the Ukrainian government, and there is just as much white nationalist fascism in Putin’s Russia (and his own advisory and influence circle, like Dugin, etc)…Putin is not bombing or killing Nazis right now, idiots…
