Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva vowed to take “wokeism” to task in 2022 and ensure that people of all political ideologies have a seat at the table that is currently overrun with defund-the-police advocates.
“Woke-ism is on the ropes. Let’s put it out of its misery in 2022,” Villanueva said at the Tri-County Sheriff’s forum held in Chino, California on Saturday.
“My only goal is to make LA livable again,” he added.
Villanueva cited one of the anti-public safety policies approved by the Board of Supervisors like the one he has deemed a “suicide pact” that will likely result in some thousands of unvaccinated staff receiving 45-day notices alerting them to a suspension of pay.

“The tragedy of Los Angeles besides their suicide pact they have going on with the city and the county is that they are not building capacity for mental health treatment, residential and substance abuse treatment,” the 33rd Sheriff of Los Angeles County noted.
“We have one-quarter of the nation’s entire homeless population is in my county. I call that a problem. I just can’t convince the Board of Supervisors or City Council to understand it the same way,” he said.

Villanueva recounted the uphill battle he has faced from the beginning of his tenure as the sheriff of the country’s most populous county.
“I don’t know what it’s like to have a partner with the board of supervisors. My first month in office, my first month, they hired a law firm to sue me,” he said. “That was my start.”
“Along the way [I’ve] been working with trying to resolve violent crime, the follow home robberies, the smash and grab robberies, all these different variations of crime that is just appalling. We thought we had figured it all out, and we’d seen the worst of the worst until I learned this last weekend the dead guy rode in our train for six hours,” he said incredulously. “I didn’t know how to explain that one. Six hours on the [Metropolitan Transportation Authority] MTA line, then the MTA board of director says, well we don’t want cops on our lines but we want to increase the outreach to our homeless population.”
He noted that the result of these types of policies is “5,700 homeless who live on our trains in LA. Yes, you can’t make that one up. It’s just bizarre.”
But cowboy hat-wearing Villanueva was hopeful as he saw that “people are starting to figure it out.”
“I’ve been hearing from liberal voices, conservative voices,” and all over Los Angeles County, he said.
“The main tragedy of this county and city government in LA is they only allow one ideology, only one point of view on every single thing they do,” Villanueva noted. “And I want to introduce other points of view.”
“I want to introduce conservative voices, moderate voices on both sides of the aisle, and I’m going to protect and defend the woke crowd, as confused as they may be, I’m still going to defend their right to have that ideology and opinion and I want them to have a seat at the table,” the sheriff said.
“They just don’t get to have every single seat,” he added.
