Thousands of migrants entering US illegally have been arrested since launch of Operation Lone Star

The success of Operation Lone Star adds further credence to President Joe Biden’s negligence in defending the American people as evidenced by ongoing arrests and the seizure of weapons and drugs that would have otherwise not entered the United States were it not for the president’s open border policies.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) wasted little time at the onset of the Biden administration when he announced the launch of Operation Lone Star in July 2021. Through joint efforts by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas National Guard, the border state has endeavored to “fill the dangerous gaps” left between the United States and Mexico left open by the president’s “refusal to secure the border.”

The news outlet Townhall had the opportunity to witness one of the border missions first-hand Sunday night where they detailed the apprehension of five illegal immigrants in possession of Honduran passports outside Del Rio, Tx. Texas DPS utilized a drone to locate the men, whose ages ranged from the 20s to 40s, as they were trespassing on a private ranch.

Members of the Texas National Guard and DPS pursued the illegal immigrants on foot, and “After being seen on live footage from the drone…They will be charged with criminal trespassing under state law.”

A thorough search of their belongings revealed one of the men was in possession of a box cutter. The rest of the items were a mix of foodstuffs, clothing, and toiletries according to Townhall. One of the men explained the reason for coming to the U.S. was “to work” and, the oldest member of the group reportedly stated he was afraid of being sent back to Honduras.

Stated fear is enough to warrant an asylum claim and human smugglers have been determined to coach illegal immigrants to provide similar responses when questioned by authorities. The men had their restraints removed as they trekked to a transport vehicle where they were once again handcuffed before being moved to the processing center in Del Rio.

The lack of involvement from the Biden administration limits members of Operation Lone Star from charging illegal immigrants with federal crimes. Therefore, they can only prosecute violations of state law.

According to an official update provided Friday, “Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, multi-agency efforts have led to more than 236,000 migrant apprehensions, along with almost 14,000 criminal arrests – and more than 11,300 felony charges. Over 3,800 weapons and almost $30 million in currency have been seized. In the fight against fentanyl, DPS has seized over 300 million lethal doses throughout the state.”

Another notable accomplishment by the Texas government to step in where Biden has failed included agreements with four Mexican governors to provide enhanced security on their side of the border. As Abbott said following the announcement of their memorandums of understanding, “Until President Biden decides to fulfill his constitutional duty to secure the border, we will continue to do whatever it takes to protect the safety and security of all Texans.”

As the border braces for the potential of 18,000 crossings per day with the scheduled end of Title 42, the statement added, “Operation Lone Star continues to fill the dangerous gaps left by the Biden Administration’s refusal to secure the border. Every individual who is apprehended or arrested and every ounce of drugs seized would have otherwise made their way into communities across Texas and the nation due to President Biden’s open border policies.”

  1. Texas is very much aLone and a Star in the overwhelming defense of our southern border, unlike the USELESS clown show in D.C. I don’t care who is running it. They will pay come November.

  2. Texas has a Castle Law that allows property owners/inhabitants to use deadly force to protect their property or themselves.
