One of America’s most beloved actors has been caught up in a potentially ugly scandal as production of Bill Murray’s latest movie has been suspended as a result of a complaint against him for ‘inappropriate behavior” with the conduct allegedly involving his inability to keep his hands off of women.

Searchlight Pictures has at least temporarily rung down the curtain on “Being Mortal,” a film featuring Murray that is being directed by Aziz Ansari which also stars liberal pot connoisseur Seth Rogan after the accusation against the former “Saturday Night Live” star who has been featured in some of the most enduring Hollywood comedies including “Ghostbusters,” “Caddyshack” and “Stripes” among others.

According to a Page Six report, the 71-year-old Murray’s “handsy” behavior didn’t go over well with some women, especially not in the #MeToo era where flirtatious actions that were no big deal in the past can be a career-killer these days.

“He was very hands-on touchy, not in any personal areas, but put an arm around a woman, touched her hair, pulled her ponytail — but always in a comedic way,” Page Six reports, citing an inside scoop from an unnamed source.

“It is a fine line and everybody loves Bill, but while his conduct is not illegal, some women felt uncomfortable and he crossed a line,” the source is quoted.

A separate source told the outlet that Murray, “Loves women and loves to flirt, he enjoys poetry and romance, he’s always flirting, but it is always couched in comedy. It isn’t clear if he crossed a line.”

In another bombshell the son of actor Richard Dreyfuss who co-starred with Murray in the 1991 comedy “What About Bob?” dished on Twitter that Murray’s behavior was so disturbing that Disney which released the film under its Touchstone Pictures label, had to hire bodyguards to protect the cast and crew from the volatile star.

According to Ben Dreyfuss, “Bill Murray had a meltdown during what about bob because he wanted an extra day off and Laura said no and ripped off her glasses off her face and my dad complained about his behavior and Bill Murray threw an ashtray at him,” referring to producer Laura Ziskin who was described as “beloved” and “petite” and was physically overwhelmed by the bullying Murray.

Dreyfuss added, “Everyone walked off the production and flew back to LA and it only resumed after Disney hired some bodyguards to physically separate my dad and Bill Murray in between takes.”

“I was like 5 at the time and these are some of my fondest and earliest memories lol,” he tweeted.

The elder Dreyfuss referred to his “What About Bob?” co-star as “an Irish drunken bully” in a 2019 Yahoo Entertainment piece, recounting the story about the ashtray turned projectile.

“He came back from dinner [one night] and I said, ‘Read this [script tweak], I think it’s really funny.’ And he put his face next to me, nose-to-nose. And he screamed at the top of his lungs, ‘Everyone hates you! You are tolerated!’ Dreyfuss said according to Yahoo. “He leaned back and he took a modern glass-blown ashtray. He threw it at my face from [only a couple feet away]. And it weighed about three quarters of a pound. And he missed me. He tried to hit me. I got up and left.”

Actress Lucy Liu also clashed with Murray during the filming of the big screen adaptation of 1970s television series “Charlies Angels” in 2000. accusing him of making “inexcusable and unacceptable” comments.

He has also reportedly mixed it up with former SNL costar Chevy Chase and longtime friend and collaborator Harold Ramis who appeared with him in “Stripes” and “Ghostbusters” among others.

Murray’s new film is based on the book “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End” which will likely be in limbo until the issues with its famous star are resolved.

  1. If I went to movies I’d probably care. Communist Chinese know they care what Hollywood movies will be profitable. No one else give a dang.

  2. They are telling us that Bill Murray acts like an asshole, Duh! But he is an equal opportunity asshole, which means the way he treats women is not the different from how he treats men. Murray was correct when he told Richard Dreyfuss “Everyone hates you, you are tolerated” He showed what an ass he is starting in “American Grafitti” There were a number of movies I would not watch because he was in them. Sounds like his son isn’t too far from his dad.

  3. IMagine that – a PAMPERED Hollywood star who has demanded his way! Bill’s schtick? during Golf telecasts have always struck me as UNFUNNY and kind of A HOLEY!! He’s Funny sometimes, but like horseradish, a LITTLE goes a LONG way!

  4. Bill has always been a A-hole. Everyone knows that. The actors and directors know that.
