Fox News’ Laura Ingraham’s opening monologue on Thursday’s “The Ingraham Angle” focused on the fallacy of so-called progressives in both government and media setting their sites on the takedown of conservative voices and opinions – online in particular, where the Left has less dominance – while allowing propaganda from China and other foreign enemies to flourish.
The segment began with a clip of Politico’s 2013 “Lie of the Year” winner, Barack Obama, delivering a speech as part of the recent “Disinformation and the Erosion of Democracy” conference in which he said the following:
The biggest reasons for democracy’s weakening is the profound change that has taken place in how we communicate and consume information. Our new information ecosystem is turbocharging some of humanity’s worst impulses. Lies, conspiracy theories, junk science, quackery. White supremacists. Racist tracts, misogynist creeds. People are dying because of misinformation.
Ingraham retorted, “OK. This is rich. With his party on the brink and his former VP on the ropes, Barack Obama thinks that he’s going to turn the tide by attacking the few news sources in the United States that are actually telling the truth about the results of his party’s policies. So labeling the views of an effective opposition as dangerous disinformation – which is what he did today at Stanford – it’s the common tactic of dictators like Putin and Xi.”
“So this brings me to this question, why is the left — why are Democrats so cowed by China and so condemnatory of their own country?” she asked. “Now we all know that the left doesn’t think twice about punishing perceived wrongdoers here at home. When the LG, BLM, CDC announced new rules, you better follow them or else. You use the wrong pronoun? You’re banned.”
“Post that you didn’t get your booster shot and you can lose half your following on Twitter. You raise your voice at a school board meeting? The DOJ is going to put you on a terror watch list, or threaten to. But where are the left’s social order enforcers when it comes to China?” Ingraham wondered.
The host also pointed out that the Democratic Party is not the only faction with a “soft-peddle approach” to China. She noted that Disney practically set itself on fire over Florida’s erroneously-dubbed “Don’t Say Gay” bill while capitulating to the CCP and allowing them to delete scenes from Disney movies that contained homosexual or transgender storylines.
Additionally, she remarked, the NBA is in “a perpetual bow to China” in order to maintain its profitable TV deal with the communist government while Uyghurs are subjugated and Shanghai citizens jailed in their homes for protesting COVID lockdowns.
“Even when the CCP is starving 25 million people in Shanghai, even when they’re crushing freedom in Hong Kong or funding Russia’s assault on Ukraine, spreading anti-American bile online, covering up the truth about COVID and imprisoning the Ughyurs, bankrolling Russia’s war in Ukraine,” she continued, “Biden’s team continues to pretend that President Xi is someone we can work with in good faith.”
And Twitter? They allow and maintain Chinese government officials’ accounts on the platform even though Twitter has been banned in the country since 2009, Ingraham said. Maybe that will change in the near future …
Ingraham also ran a montage of past government leaders who all appeared to use the same musical score when singing the praises of then-candidate Joe Biden, whom they promised would restore America’s standing on the world stage.
