Saying what just about everyone has been thinking for a very long time, Joe Rogan ripped into Stephen Colbert for being “weird” and a sellout to the left on Wednesday’s episode of his Spotify podcast The Joe Rogan Experience.
The comedian, podcaster, and former star of the shows “NewsRadio” and “Fear Factor” didn’t hold back on his criticisms of Colbert, according to the New York Post. The comments came during an interview with MMA fighter Jake Shields. At first, the two discussed Rogan’s prospects as a late-night talk show host.
“If I had been born in any other era, all of my jobs except being a stand-up comedian would be nonexistent,” Rogan observed.
Shields mentioned that Rogan might do well on a late-night show, but Rogan wasn’t having it: “They would never give me one. I guarantee you they’d never give me one.”
“Or you’d have to be like Stephen Colbert,” Shields said. “It’s sad seeing, like, Stephen Colbert, ’cause I used to think he was like funny, and seeing him now is just like…cringe.”
“He’s weird, right?” Rogan agreed.
That’s when Shields brought up the notorious “Vax-Scene” skit, which was widely mocked and ridiculed when it aired last year. It featured a dance troupe dressed as syringes.
If the skit elicited any laughs, it was from sheer embarrassment.
“The vax thing, you’re like oh my God this is so hard to watch!” Shields added.
“The vaccine songs…that was strange,” Rogan said. “I wanna be in the meeting where they pitch that. Like here’s the thing ‘We’re gonna go da—da—da—dada—da vaccines!’ Like where’s the joke? Where’s the joke? Are people going to watch this?”
That observation prompted a discussion of whether Colbert actually thinks of himself as a comedian, or simply sold out for his high-paying gig on CBS’ “The Late Show.”

“Yeah, you wonder is a guy happy like that doing a job,” Shields asked, “or does he just like the money? It’s definitely, uh…I guess people just get so attached to being famous and money that they’ll do whatever it takes.”
“I bet it’s, for sure, very lucrative,” Rogan said, “he gets a lot of money. I bet he enjoys being the star of a show, he enjoys being on the in…he’s in the in-crowd.”
Then it got worse for Colbert. Rogan mentioned a viral video in which Colbert and Sen. Chuck Schumer can be seen dancing together and high-fiving in New York during a charity concert last summer, as the US military was being chased out of Afghanistan by the Taliban.
“There’s this video of Colbert dancing with Chuck Schumer, and they high-five each other,” Rogan explained. “It’s so strange. They’re high-fiving and Schumer is dancing outside with a mask on. Like this is going to go down in history, like this time—this is like a mass psychosis.”
